Godzilla vs. Kong question *Spoilers*

I'm trying to understand why people thought Kong was going to be a match for Godzilla? Godzilla is literally a nuclear lizard god. It seemed to me even before the movie he had no chance.

"Kong win because he monke" is probably my favorite meme from the movie though

Kong got his fricking arse whooped so much in this movie

My Father in Law saw the trailer where Kong punches Godzilla and said "Awww Kong's got this one".
I sat in silence just thinking about how it probably didn't phase Godzilla

To be fair, Kong didn't exactly enter the fight fresh like Godzilla did. He fought Godzilla on water, traveled to the Antarctic, traveled to inner Earth, fought those giant bat-snake things, had to travel BACK up to outer Earth, and he's still not fully grown. Plus, Godzilla is THE apex monster with way more experience fighting powerful creatures. Kong lacks a long range attack as well. Hard to fight off something with laser beam breath.

Kong did a pretty good job. Nimble enough to dodge the nuclear breath. Without that weapon charged up though, he had little more chance against Godzilla than you or I.

Just look to any thread from the OT regarding chimps or gorillas vs other animals for your answer.

Kong was pretty damn good against those T-Rex's.

It was a draw. Kong is seen swimming away, and in the American version of the film only his voice is heard. However, in the true Japanese cut of the film both Kong's and Godzilla's roars are heard.
But they also gave him electrical powers in that film.

Seems to me he saved Godzilla’s arse. Godzilla was getting smoked by mechagodzilla

1. Not that it has anything to do with this version, but Kong 'won' in the original 1962 fight. ( Which was just as ridiculous then as Godzilla is primarily an aquatic creature, and monkey would have been at a bigger disadvantage under water. )
2. He's got monkey smarts and monkey tool making abilities. Plus, he's agile AF.
3. Folks like an underdog story.

Had to play dead to avoid death. Do that on the play ground and you gotta find new friends bc your original ones don’t respect you

To me it seemed like they shrunk Godzilla to be near Kong’s size. Godzilla looks much bigger in King of the Monsters.

Actually, they did the opposite. They made Kong bigger. He was huge in Kong: Skull Island and he was supposedly still growing.

I think he was referring to the end of the movie, where they had to crank up the H.E.A.V. to restart his heart.

Well, if he was then that one is definitely not playing dead, he was dying with his heart giving out which is the reason for the nuclear bomb to jump start it.
