has anyone ever done a running count of how many godzilla movies there were ever made in total?

we were talking the other day and i said there must be over 100 of them and he said closer to 250 and then admitted we were just throwing numbers out but thought how far off could we really be with those guesses?

anybody here a godzilla fan groupie that knows the real answer

35 Godzilla if you include the Toho films, American films, and animated films.

Although technically 34 since Toho does not consider the Godzilla in the '98 film Godzilla

Nor should anyone else.

Was it any good? What is the 2nd movie in the Monsterverse? King Kong?

As a long time fan of Godzilla movies (excluding 1998), I didn’t care for the 2014 movie all that much on first viewing. It’s miles better than the 1998 abortion, but still didn’t feel right to me.

However, “Kong: Skull Island” made me excited for Legendary’s Monsterverse, and made the 2014 Godzilla a much better movie in hindsight, in my opinion. The complete opposite effect of the last two episodes of Star Wars.

So I guess I have two movies I need to watch: Godzilla and King Kong. And of course Netflix has neither.

Are they going to grow King Kong about 3 1/2 times, so that he's somewhat evenly sized against Godzilla?

Kong was 100 feet tall in Kong: Skull Island. They implied in that movie that he wasn't fully grown.

I enjoyed both movies though they are different in how they approach the monsters. I grew up watching Godzilla films, so I’m probably biased but I think they’re both good films.

He’d still need to have grown over 200 feet in ~40 years to stand eye to eye with this version of Godzilla.

How bad does a film have to be to be a part of a 35-movie franchise and be the only that isn't considered canon? (Or whatever the word you want to choose)

It's mostly Toho and the hardcore fans that don't consider the 1998 film to actually be a Godzilla film

That was a film about a giant mutant Iguana.

And dangit, Godzilla better fly in this one.

He won’t stand eye to eye with him. He also won’t need to. He’ll be more nimble and have more usable limbs.

Godzilla is that Andre the Giant super heavyweight. Kong is more of the Steve Austin Heavyweight.
