Have watched the first two movies of the trilogy and thought they were great. Trying to get the third one now. I heard that they are remaking it with American actors. Anyone else a Stieg Larsson fan?

I read all 3 books and have watched first two movies.

I was disappointed with the 3rd book.
The 2nd book was the best of the 3.

As far as remaking with American actors goes. They are. Daniel Craig is playing Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara is playing Lisbeth Salander and David Fincher is directing.

I enjoyed the first two movies as well. Is the 3rd streaming yet?

Think I read Daniel Craig is in the remake, not positive though.

What's the 3rd one called?
The 1st one was better than the 2nd.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest. HD rips have been up on the net for months now. I have it and have been meaning to watch it but I'm such a procrastinator.

I take it this means you've watched the Euro movie adaptations?

I'm currently reading the 2nd book. Very into it. I've heard the 3rd isn't as good though, so, we'll see.

My wife loves these books and made me watch this movie. It was a great freaking movie, so now I am going to go back and read the book and the remaining series.

the books or movies? I thought the second book was so much better than the first. I'm about 3/4 of the way through hornets nest and it is as good as the second IMO.

Daniel Craig as Blomkvist? I don't know how I feel about that casting decision...

I listened to the book on CD first and liked it a lot, mostly because it was so different. By the end, though, my red flags about suspension of disbelief were going off. The plot really does not stand up well to scrutiny but it was still pretty good overall.

Watched the movie last week; the subtitles stopped being a problem pretty quickly and I thought it was very well done. Some compromises had to be made to keep the movie length reasonable but the choices made were good. I really doubt that Hollywood will make a better version.

I dl'd a Bluray rip yesterday the third one is really good. Really brings the whole thing full circle.

I started reading the books. Just finished the first one, the movie was very close. Even a lot of the dialouge was the same. The only key (while minor) differences where you got a better understanding of how Lisbeth was percieved by others in the books.

I hope they do a good job.
The movies were all pretty low budget and the last two were actually made for Sweedish TV.

Surely not. The rape and dildo scene cannot be legal over there.

I have never heard of these before until a few weeks ago. Now I see "Girl with the Dragon Tatoo" all over the place.

What makes it so good and is it worth checking out?

What? This is Europe. Everything is permissible and legal. Except Nazis. And hate speech. And denying the holocaust. And working more than 36 hours a week in France. And a lot of other things that are really, really silly but fine because Europeans are so much more enlightened.

Sorry, my mind wandered a tad...

I've enjoyed the movies and like most, I'm tired of remakes. But because its Fincher I'm not really upset at all. And in the American version, the girls might shave.

This isn't true, all three were international box office releases.

Incorrect. All were made for theatrical release. They were not low budget at all.

I read all three books. I agree that the second was the best and the third was a little tedious.

I've seen all three movies. I enjoyed all three. The third film is a significant improvement over the third book. A lot of unnecessary scenes are eliminated.

Okay, Netflix does not have the third film streaming yet. Other places to find it?
