Anybody else still watch it when it comes on? I still watch it to this day and it still holds up being made in 1989. It still creeps me out when the ghost on the bike takes the baby off the edge of the building. River of slime is the goat and can’t forget about Bobby Brown appearance!

I grew up watching it before the original. I actually like it better.

I've actually never watched this or Gremlins 2. I just know I'll be disappointed.

It strangely got a terrible release in my area despite the massive success of the original. I guess because of the long delay.

We had to drive a long ways to one theater that was showing it...back when theaters showed one PG movie in the afternoon and one R-rated movie at night. But the theater was full.

I don't know why it got panned by the critics. Maybe nostalgia, length of time, etc.

They're both bad but good but Gremlins 2 is insane.

That’s one of the better scenes in the whole movie.

The cartoon was better than either movie. Real talk.

It was noticeably inferior to the first movie, but I still enjoy it

Vigo scared the hell out of me when I was a little kid. Used to have nightmares that he was walking out of my door.

This one is good, yet different than the first. The movie doesn't take itself seriously at all, and it's all sorts of crazy.

Give it a shot, but go in knowing it's not as "serious" as the first film.

Definitely different from the first. And FWIW, Gremlins 3 is in development.

As others have pointed out, you should definitely check out Gremlins 2. It is totally different than the first but it's great in its own right. It pokes fun at itself and sequels in general, frequently breaks the fourth wall (even before the movie technically starts), and eventually becomes complete anarchy by the third act.

Also, it spawned this Key and Peele sketch.

I never hated this movie, but it wasn't even in the same ballpark as the original imo. The Statue of Liberty walking around was ridiculous..
