I prefer the first one, but I like the sequel.

Sure. Is it as good a movie as T2? Nah. But that's the whole point of being one of the best sequels...it doesn't mean it's the best. But it's up there.

Sorry dude, but there aren't many people that would lump Ghostbusters 2 in with The Godfather 2 or the LOTR sequels.

You're in a big time minority feeling that it does.

ETA: I could possibly give you comedy sequels.

So you've named GF2, LotR (which some argue is not even a sequel), Aliens, Empire, and T2. And you even admit that you could maybe agree that it's at/near the top of comedy sequels.

Seems to me like you even agree that it's "one of the best sequels of all time," even if just on the comedy concession alone.

Peter: You're gonna endanger us, you're gonna endanger our client. The nice lady who paid us in advance before she became a dog.

Peter: If we're wrong, then nothing happens. We go to jail, peacefully, quietly. We'll enjoy it. But if we're right, and we can stop this thing... Lenny, you will have saved the lives of millions of registered voters.

Louis: Okay, who brought the dog?

Peter: She's not my girlfriend. I find her interesting because she's a client and because she sleeps above her covers... four feet above her covers. She barks, she drools, she claws!

Dana: I want you inside me.
Peter: It sounds like you've got at least two or three people in there already.

There are so many great lines and dialog in the 1st movie.

Ray: Symmetrical book stacking. Just like the Philadelphia mass turbulence of 1947.
Peter: You're right, no human being would stack books like this.
The entire bit of skepticism from Peter during the library scene is awesome.

Dr. Peter Venkman: Alice, I'm going to ask you a couple of standard questions, okay? Have you or any of your family been diagnosed schizophrenic? Mentally incompetant?
Librarian Alice: My uncle thought he was Saint Jerome.
Dr. Peter Venkman: I'd call that a big yes. Uh, are you habitually using drugs? Stimulants? Alcohol?
Librarian Alice: No.
Dr. Peter Venkman: No, no. Just asking. Are you, Alice, menstruating right now?
Library Administrator: What has that got to do with it?
Dr. Peter Venkman: Back off, man. I'm a scientist.

Those were off the top of my head.

And yes, all of the above mentioned are sequels. You wouldn't argue it.

I'll go ahead and take that back.

Even if I did make this concession, that means little.

Kill Bill 2
Fa Yeung Nin Wa (In the Mood for Love)
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Saraband
Shrek 2
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
49 Up
Triad Election (Hak se wui yi wo wai kwai)
The Dark Knight Rises
Letters from Iwo Jima
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Before Sunset
Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol
Spider-Man 2
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
The Bourne Ultimatum
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Dark Knight
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Toy Story 3
Toy Story 2

These are all sequels that scored a minimum of 30% better (critics) than GB2. They have all also been released in the last 15 years. That's only the last 15 years.

GB2 is nowhere near one of the best of all time.

Kill Bill 2

Stopped with your list here because 1 and 2 were shot as one movie and the studio wanted it cut into 2 movies because of the long run time.

I love this from Tully in Ghostbusters 2:
quote:

Your Honor, ladies and gentleman of the audience, I don't think it's fair to call my clients frauds. Sure, the blackout was a big problem for everybody. I was trapped in an elevator for two hours and I had to make do the whole time. But I don't blame them. Because one time, I turned into a dog and they helped me. Thank you.

Still gotta go with the original Ghostbusters.

I know this.

But by definition, it's a sequel. If you want to dispute that, then fine, throw that one out. There's 21 more listed there. This argument is easily won without KB2, or even the LOTR flicks, for that matter (which Cokes has already argued ARE sequels).

Are you of the opinion that this movie, that has a whopping 60% on RT (viewers) should be considered one of the best sequels ever?
