That aside, asked about people who are worried he won't be able to finish his work

Because they love it so much

His response is "frick you"

Though this literal "frick you" to fans, his odd behavior in general makes me think that's a possibility
Dude his fans are saying he is going to die..... He is in perfect mind to tell them to frick off. He owes them nothing. It is his story.

you left off the "because he is going to die" part.

So he doesn't owe the fans that have bought millions in ASOIAF products to support his cushy little living?

He shouldn't have said "frick you" I agree but it doesn't matter how many copies people have bought, it's still HIS story and he can finish it or not finish it. That's his decision. Not the fans. He doesn't owe the fans shite.

no the fans are worried he won't finish before he dies and while maybe in bad taste, 1. It is a legit probability and 2. it is a testament to how much people love something he created.

the customer is always right, when millions are going crazy for your work, there is no need to address any one segment with a frick you lest someone feel that it is directed at them, and maybe it is not.

Just a bad move all the way around. It's never good to show contempt for your audience.

I still want you to edit the post where you make it look like I said all of that crazy shite.

I'll agree.

But I feel there was a huge plummet in writing style and quality in the last book.

Does Bill Gates owe you anything? What about Steve Jobs? Jeff Bezos?

the last book was better than feast

I think he went in a direction he couldn't come back from with the 4th book. Just an odd direction. I think he probably regrets it.

I disagree. One of the defining/greatest moments in the series was The Red Wedding. If it were up to the fans, Bran wouldn't be paralyzed, the Red Wedding would have never happened and the Starks would rule all of Westeros.

If I'm shelling out money to sustain their product, I'd hope they owe me a good product. Not a bunch of bullshite to tide me over until they feel like producing a good product.

I agree with pretty much what everyone has been saying. The fact that he's saying "frick you" to his fanbase who have given his fat arse MILLIONS of dollars is such a dick move.

Sure, I want a good product, but he's been wasting his time on conventions and vacations that he takes for months on end, and he only writes on a computer from the 1990s in 1 of the 2 houses on his property in New Mexico that we all indirectly paid for.

Sounds to me like he doesn't give a shite about the series. David and Dan need to tell him to go frick himself and just finish the series themselves at this point. I posted an article on the Crackpot thread this morning about how GRRM wants David and Dan to do 8 seasons AND a movie....to me the show being finished in 8 seasons is sufficient enough. I don't like the idea of having a movie when the medium has been TV for the series. I just think Fat Boy is trying to buy his time to finish a series that he has no idea how to finish.

I think he knows the end game he really wants and has it all outlined but hasn't sat down to actually write it. And there is no doubt in my mind that he gave the HBO writers a different ending than he intended just because if they do pass him, he will come out and say his ending is the real ending.

That is such a dick move though. I want the show and the books to have the same ending, and for Martin to tell D&D a different ending than the one he wants to write and to be dishonest with them about the direction of the series is utter bullshite.
