My parents are much younger than Gene Hackman and I talk to them everyday.
I don't understand going weeks without checking in on your 95 year old dad.

It actually makes sense now.
She died first somewhat unexpectedly, and he was basically too old, feeble, or senile to properly take care of himself or assess the situation so he passed due to that. That's also why the dog that was caged up died, nobody there to take care of it.
Guess this sorta situation could hypothetically happen a lot more with old people or young babies when a sole primary care giver in the house suddenly dies. Kinda scary to think about.

The whole thing is just crazy. What kind of conditions must they have been living in to have caught a rodent-borne virus?

Same. 60 something yr old wife who isn’t a nurse…
Seems a couple times a week a call or visit from a nurse …he was suffering Alzheimer’s. but easy for Monday morning QBing.

What I don’t understand is how Hackman could work himself so hard at the end of his career, doing film after film, supposedly to build a huge financial cushion for his retirement, and then to have to depend on one single family member for his care.

Did he have no contact at all with his children?
I’m surprised they had no part-time caretakers for him as well.
Even if his wife was in very good health, she is still 65 and caring for a 95 year old man with advanced dementia.

Hell, I was still talking to my great grandma almost every day until she passed. His kids are utter piece of shite degenerates who most likely only came around when they needed cash or someone to bail them out of jail.
