I would question if you've even read the books. Most book readers have long thought that the battle with the Night King would be over really early on, because that is something that Martin ISN'T that interested in as opposed to the human interactions and machinations.
In fact, and you should probably know this if you are a book reader, he has hinted on multiple occasions that this would be the case, including his infamous comments on the Scouring of the Shire in LOTR.
2 main problems with D/Ds version
1. they fricked up Dorne
2. they killed off everyone via Cersei's firewater nuke

Not saying its terrible, but to me the show was about the impending march of the Others on the Seven Kingdoms.
That's not "to you"......it's because they've been beating us over the head with that idea since the very first episode of the series.
The show has always had the looming threat of the WWs. That was the whole point. Hell, they've spent the last 2 or 3 seasons literally telling us about how that is the only war that matters, and that it was a war for humanity (and that the throne is essentially meaningless).
Now, I get that it is called Game of Thrones. But they have done their very best to make us believe that this war with "winter" was the end all, be all.

I look at it from Dany and Jon's POV. There was the war with the Night King and if that was lost, nothing else matters. That was the only thing that mattered at that time.
Now that it is over, the focus will be Cersei.

I get the point of that meme but you could just as easily argue 6/8 of the points about Dany could turn her mad Queen.

well, to be fair, it's "A Song of Ice and Fire"

this is 100% false.

Season 7 should have been about the throne.
Season 8 should have been about getting everyone south of the Neck and as close to KL as possible for the Battle of Dawn.
The NK dying should have been the finale.

The overall battle plan of not using the walls until most of your fighting force is destroyed wasn’t great.
I do agree that the overall strategy was not great. But, at this point, pretty much all of the great tacticians are dead. I’d say Stannis or Tywin would have absolutely wrecked shite with that sized army and two dragons. This plan was made by Jon, Tyrion, Davos, Jamie, Brienne, Grey Worm, Dany, Tormund, and Jorah. Some good fighters in there, but it’s not surprising that their plan ended up just being “get em”

Not true. Or at least not all of us Hodors anyway.
