Yes, and it's a total shite theory. Next to Tyrion being the Mad King's son, it's the theory I hate the most. It deprives Aerys of any responsibility for his own undoing.

Plus it doesn't make any sense. He already rigged King's Landing to blow. Why should there be any more context than that? He said more than just "Burn them all". He said that Robert should inherit a kingdom of ashes and told his Pyromancer to kill everyone in King's Landing.

The Crackpot theory I like that actually drove him mad in the long term is that he and Tywin orchestrated the burning of Summerhall to take out his grandfather, his son, and Lord Commander of the Kingsguard so Aerys could take the throne soon from his sickly father. It unites Tywin and Aerys by this dark secret, but gives Aerys a great deal of responsibility for his own madness and connection to Wildfire.
