There's been more than that. His name has been dropped multiple times in Arya's storyline, especially when she's being whacked with a stick by the Waif over her "list". I'm pretty sure there was also mention in Sansa's storyline as well.

I'll concede that I was wrong and he is apparently mentioned some since his last appearance, however, my point still stands. The only reason he is even considered still alive by anyone watching the show is because they also read the books. There has been nothing in the show (that my tiny brain can recall) to even insinuate that he is still alive.

There no subtle way to drop that hint on the show, and there's no substantial reason to until now. The effect of his "death" is useless unless people actually think he's dead for a while

There's got to be some bigger twist to the Clegane bowl right?

The only twist I thought might happen would be if Loras chose to represent the Faith to win his freedom. If he had won, it would have been the end of Cersei at the hand of margaery's volanqar or younger brother or whatever that word is. And if he lost, it would have just caused more strife between the lannisters and tyrells.

But yea, seems like cleganebowl is inevitable now.

and honestly very little in the book, I don't recall anything more than the vague statement by the Elder Brother, and even those statements he made were really stretching it if I recall.

It would be funny if they go FULL CLEGANEBOWL HYPE just to have the Mountain finally dispose of the Hound. That's right up GRRM's alley to pull off.

The only season he wasn't in was last season.

Both the show and the novels have set this up from almost the very beginning.

What 3 trial by combats have we seen? Bronn (Tyrion) and Ser Cant Fly, The Hound (in proper person) and Dondarrion - and The Mountain and the Viper (Tyrion).

Since we know, almost for a fact (barring some heavy shite going down in the Red Keep), that The Mountain (Franken or not) will be in this next one, it makes no literary sense for the Faith's champion to be anyone other than Sandor Clegane, period.

If it is anything else, Martin wasted a metric shite ton of words and foreshadowing for a non-event.

By the way, this is the way I would bet if money was on the line. I think Ser Robert Strong (they're not even pretending the show) wins the trial by combat and Arya ultimately kills Frankenmountain - partly because he's on the list, but also partly to avenge Sandor.

Just my $0.02.

What shite ton of words? There has been very little written about the Hound after Arya leaves him. In fact it really only comes up one time.

You are largely correct though that Cleganebowl carries the most narrative heft of the potential matchups for Cersei's trial by combat.

The only thing that comes close is Loras due to the whole horse incident from Season 1.

If Sandor beats Gregor, though Cersei dies presumably before Tommen. That would invalidate Maggy the Frog's prophecy.

Sandor can beat Gregor and Tommen die before Cersei is executed.

I don't. When the viper lost, Tyrion was thrown back in jail and his execution date was set. This is fantasy fiction so the prophesy is going to come true.

And I really doubt that they bring Sandor back just to kill him.

Seems like they would learn from Tyrion and just off her immediately. I suppose Tommen could be mirdered between combat and execution, but who would kill him then? The Tyrells?

Lyanna is a stone cold lock recruit. You don't send your top two recruiters for an in home visit on a lock on the first day. That's rookie stuff.

The preview showed the Mormont & Glover banners. So since that doesn't look like Lyanna, I'm going with Glover.

Yeah, I don't think Clegane Bowl is fodder for Episode 7 - that's some 8, 9, 10 ep stuff right there.

I don't think it happens this season. Too much other shite going on.
