certainly it would appear to pass out of the family's control, wouldn't you agree?

It would pass out of the family's control in that it could be given to someone else that the current owner felt deserved it, even if they weren't family (like Jeor did with Jon). But the same can be said for anyone, regardless if they are part of the Night's Watch or not. Heck, Jamie gave his sword to Brienne, and she isn't family. But I don't believe that the swords become property of the Night's Watch if a member is in possession of one.

Speaking of Brienne, now that she is in the service of the Starks, and since she probably won't have an heir, what are the chances that Oathkeeper ends up back with the Starks? That would be a pretty good deal for them to lose one sword, but then end up with two with Oathkeeper and Longclaw.

I think a lot of that depends on who survives the war of the long winter, and who ends up in charge at King's Landing.

I think that depends on something else...

I have a feeling that Brienne will be harder to bed than that she-bear was.

Not for Jaime.

I have a question about how much longer this show is gonna go on.

Most likely we're getting two more seasons out of it, right? Two seasons to have the White Walkers storm the wall, dany come to Westeros, Jon to take Winterfell, Arya to come to Westeros, etc.

The next book is Winds of Winter, so I would assume that the title means that the Night's King is making it to the Wall. It just seems to me that they don't have a lot of time left to wrap this whole thing up.

At what point do y'all think a)Night's King gets to/through the Wall? B) Dany makes it to Westeros and c) Jon takes Winterfell/meets his long lost aunt, Dany?

That's not even asking about Cersei and KL which seems to be not as important as what Dany/Jon are doing.

I think that's the Season 6 finale

quote:

B) Dany makes it to Westeros

Season 7

quote:

c) Jon takes Winterfell
Episode 9 - The Bastard Bowl

quote:

/meets his long lost sister, Dany?

End of Season 7

Season 8 (or however the last 16 episodes are split...) will show all the players aware of each other.

Cersei doesn't have much time left.

Others including yours truly have stated the same. There's going to be a lot of decisive action from here on out for all of this to come to a satisfying conclusion. I know HBO is running out of money but honestly I hate to see the whole thing rushed to a conclusion after one of the best TV productions in television history. They should seek out a rich benefactor to boost their remaining budget. Heck, there is probably a lot of fans who would contribute outside of HBO subscriptions.

Don't get me wrong, I love this series, but I can't see that many people throwing cash at a tv show.

I would guess in the season finale (S6E10).

B) Dany makes it to Westeros

I'm guessing she sets sail for Westeros in the season finale (S6E10), and makes it Westeros in Season premiere next season (S7E1).

quote:

c) Jon takes Winterfell

I think he takes Winterfell in episode 8 or 9 of this season (whenever the Battle of the Bastards takes place).

quote:

/meets his long lost sister, Dany

First off, Dany would be his aunt, not sister. And I'm guessing that'll probably not happen until the end of next season.

Are they really having trouble funding the show?

Even after massive ratings?

I agree with you, but there are some alternative fan theories.

Which I give no credence to. She is Daenerys Stormborn, not Daenerys Tower of Joy skirmish born.

Well just exactly how much younger is Dany than Rhaegar? Ned was ~35 when he died and he was about the same age as Robert Baratheon, Rhaegar, and Jaime. Wasn't Dany born right as the Targaryen reign ended?

She's like 15 in the books. They aged her up for the show

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the books all Euron has done is make a bunch of claims, right?

I'm talking about the kingsmoot stuff. Like having a crew full of mutes, a shitload of treasure, and seeming to put the fear into the iron islanders (not to mention the dragon horn).

Seems a lot more impressive than the show version where all he did was throw an old man off a bridge and walk in acting like he has a shot at landing the dragons with absolutely zero anything to back it up.

A lot younger. I would guess about 17 years or so.

But since Visarys blamed Dany for their mother's death, and since he was with them at Dragonstone when she was born, I think he is proof that she was Rhaella's daughter.

Rhaegar was the first born. Aerys and Rhaella had tons of problems in trying to produce children - they suffered a whole range of stillbirths, miscarriages and children who died before reaching 1 year of age. In the books, it is ~15 years between Rhaegar and Viserys, and another 8 or so until Dany. Ages are tough to keep straight in the show, because actors were cast older than their characters' starting ages and this only gets worse, particularly for the younger characters. Rather than recast (other than Tommen for Season 4), they've chose to just "go with it" up until this point.
