Yeah, I was afraid someone would interperet my post this way after I re-read it.

I should've said "subconscious hatred" but that's not accurate either. I just assumed ppl would know that I know...Cat didn't know.

Oh Hell nevermind.

Is speculation over future cast members and their purpose a no-no? I mean, it broke last year...with clues...but not seen in trailers that I'm aware of

I think she has as much hate and spite as Cersei does. Cat is just sane while Cersei has always been batshit crazy. Just a real "holier than thou" bitch.

I wonder if Benjen would know about Jon's true parantage. Surely Ned would trust his own brother.

I feel pretty sure that Benjen knows. Ned would probably have been the last of Lyanna's 3 brothers she would have told due to his obsession with his honor and his closeness to Robert, and I think Ned knows that as well. I'm almost sure he told Benjen or highly implied it to him.

I always wondered if Barristan Selmy knew...or Jon Con, even.

At least knew Lyanna was preggers.

Eta: damn, that was a dream team of a KG: Selmy, Dane, Jaime Lannister, Hightower, Whent...

No, especially Jon Con. Barristan would have never served Robert if he knew that Rhaegar's child lived.

And Connington wasn't as close to Rhaegar as he believes he was. Personally I do think Connington will figure out that Aegon is a fake and the Jon Snow is actually Rhaegar's son, but will be killed by Varys before he can alert the general public. The tip off will be a message from the Wall saying it has fallen, and it will be signed by Jon Snow. Connington will think that Rhaegar named his son directly after him in order to tip him off should anything have happened to him. He will die thinking that he wasn't able to save Rhaegar's true son.

So do we have an idea of how long Jon Snow was actually dead?

In three days time, he was risen. It is known.

I think Benjen knew.

In E1 or E2 of S1, we see the conversation that Jon and Benjen have about joining the Watch. Jon says he's ready and Benjen tells him "if only you knew what you were giving up..." It definitely had another meaning to it.

So do we ever get another Benjen appearance in the show?

I always wondered about Jon's REAL name...did Rhaegar name him after Con or did Ned name him after Aryn to hide an overtly Targ handle...(Aegon, Daeron, Maegor...the distinctive "ae") the royal fam was big on traditional names, especially for those directly in line.

Unless he wasn't highborn after all. It's hard for me to reconcile the name "Jon" coming from Rhaegar, even as a code.

Lyanna likely named him, not Rhegar

I think so, because on HBO's Game of Thrones website he isn't listed as presumed dead or anything. His status is still alive. I'm assuming he won't quite be the same Benjen that he was originally next time we see him, though.

What was the theory about clues to R+L being hidden in/around Lyanna's tomb?

I can't remember where that came from...or what was compelling about it.

Would be funny if someone came up to JON like "hey we found Benjen!" And he just told them to frick off

I'm pretty sure Ned named him after Jon Arryn, but that won't prevent Connington from thinking otherwise when he hears about Jon. I don't think its a coincidence from GRRM that they have the same first name.

I'm just saying that's how Connington will interpret it. I don't think Rhaegar would ever name his kid after him, but it will be the last horse crossing the finish line with Connington's suspicions over Varys and Aegon.

Ned did want to make sure the crown didn't have Dany killed

My thoughts on this are that Ned didn't want to go down that road because of John's assumed parentage. If Robert goes to great lengths to rid the world of the Targ kids, he would eventually have to go after Jon if anyone found out he was Rheagar's kid. Didn't want Robert to set the precedent for killing those potential heirs.

Combo of being the good guy he was and not wanting children murdered, and protecting his nephew/son.

Ned was also an honorable man to a fault. I choose to believe he would never murder an innocent girl whether it set a precedent for killing his nephew that he was sworn to protect or not.
