And at the first sighting of Jon, Ramsay would kill Rickon right in front of him, and the Umber know it.
OR
They think that Jon is either still dead or is going to honor his night's watch vows to not get involved. Maybe they feel that it's in their hands now to do something about it.

I don't think that is true. I think the Umbers just realize that Ramsay is a mad dog. I think Karstark is actually loyal to Ramsay.
Fair enough. But I think there is still plenty of motivation for the Umbers to plan something.

The toj meltdown in this thread was funny.
Yes, that was Dawn. The sun is a star. The blade texture was special
Ned used a long sword, and not Ice, because ice was a ceremonial sword. He carried that same sword on him in season1
The white bull is probably inside.
Arthur Dayne was a boss. Destroyed 4 of neds best men like it was nothing.
Ned probably did hear "the wind" before entering. Osha tells a young Bran when they were sitting by a wierwood that the wind is the gods listening.
Indeed there are no wierwoods in the South but a tree being present isn't a requirement.
Great episode

It's okay to kill Ramsay (and hopefully a lot of Freys) in a grand scene in season 6. He's not the real enemy.
Right? At some point the game of thrones has to start bottle-necking toward the final play and the ultimate battle with the flesh eating icicles. Now, Euron is in so it will be interesting if he is just Dany's boatride or he starts to raid like the book.

The fact that he also knew about Roose getting killed shows that there is some communication with the Karstarks. (If lord Karstark was "loyal" to Ramsey he would have kept his mouth shut)
Or the maester said something. He saw it too, which is why I think even mentioning how Roose died was a mistake by Littlejon. Ramsey isn't the type of guy to miss on something like that because it means someone has betrayed his trust. Maester or Karstark? He may not be able to stop what's coming but Ramsey wouldn't miss an opportunity to bend someone to his will like that.

I think the Umbers just realize that Ramsay is a mad dog.
Also, I know it's not in the books, but Ramsay raped Sansa several times and she never got pregnant. I don't know about Westeros, but in medieval times, it was considered very unmanly not to impregnate one's wife asap after being married. It wasn't like now with careers, etc.
Ramsay is a piece of shite, but he's no badass. People who are as pointlessly cruel as he is have a deep weakness within them and get off on having absolute power over others. Ramsay is always in the position of power, either with his men or his dogs. He's never in a position of weakness, and won't allow it.
Deep down, he's a weak pussy. Kill the bastard and move on the the far more epic fight.

Why would Osha agree to that though? "So part of this plan involves me getting raped and flayed alive? Sign me up!"
I could see Umber and Rickon coming up with a plan to infiltrate Winterfell, and Osha being adamant that Rickon wasn't going to be gifted to Ramsey without her.
Besides, Osha is a Wildling. Getting raped is just a Friday night date for her.

Are the Karstarks a part of the GNC?
Was Karstark a plant from word go, knowing without Roose, the Boltons would crumble?

The people in here who want to believe D&D wrote in the GNC are adorable.

Some thoughts:
That wasn't Shaggydog
There is no way the Umbers are just handing over Rickon and Osha
Umber was like "Jon Snow is marching south with an army of wildlings." That is certainly a lie.

Yeah, he handed over the 12 year old boy he was supposed to protect to someone who is famous throughout the region for rape, torture, and murder. Great guy.

Thorne also said "Lord Snow and his army of wildlings", is he in on the conspiracy as well?

If he is, he isn't talking...

Could be...or it may be that the timelines are off a bit.
Jon may be a part of this already?

You sure? I'm pretty sure that, before everything is said and done, there will be some form of the GNC. I do doubt it includes the Karstarks though and I'm on the fence about the Umbers being involved. One of the things the show has done well is to balance the clues on both sides to keep that one in suspense for me.

Yeah, I'm about as sure as possible.

So again, WTF is Littlefinger up to right now?
That's a wildcard in all of this.

Near the end of season 5, Cersei sent him to gather the Knights of the Vale and march on the Boltons for harboring Sansa.
