Did Arthur Dayne not have Dawn?

He was the runt of the litter, but ended up growing larger than all of his litter mates. It is an analogy for Jon becoming greater than his siblings.

And unfortunately I think that Shaggydog being killed is an analogy for Rickon's fate.

He did not. They turned Arthur Dayne into Spartacus for some reason.

I'm pretty sure the sword that he shoved into the sand right before the fighting began was Dawn they zoomed in on it and it had the m banner of house Dayne on it.

So Cersei is going to request a trial by combat with the mountain as her champion?

I think the thing I misfiled the most about that episode was changing the dialogue at the tower of joy. With that said I don't see any other way they could have shot Arthr Dayne fighting 5 fricking guys by his self without two swords.

Yeah, the whole context of the scene is changed by Ned asking "Where is my sister?" That's just weak if you read it in the books. Ned knew damn well what was up those stairs and the Kingsguard knew Ned knew what was up those stairs as well. If Ned had not known or not given a shite about the kids life, then Ned would have had his entire army in tow to face the Kingsguard. He brought only his most trusted men there for a reason, hence Arthur Dayne's sad smile on his lips.

Granted I think they thought that Ned himself wouldn't harm the child, but that he'd remove his birthright at best and take him to Robert and the Lannisters at worst. They just couldn't abide by that. Ned asking "where is my sister" and "why weren't you at the Trident" ruins it. Ned doesn't ask them a single question in the books and merely has a conversation with them that leads to a civil battle.

I think that the dual swords was likely driven by choreography. Simply put 3 or 4 dudes against one blade is essentially impossible unless you are super-human fast.

You parry left once and get cut on the right. Even if it isn't lethal.... you can't take many of those cuts before you are no longer in fighting shape.

Not in that scene, unless it was one of the two normal looking swords that he was fighting with. But in the books Dawn was so impressive that it catches Ned's attention.

Well you could solve this by having another member of the Kingsguard there...

I always thought that was mirroring- Jon's the bastard, Ghost is the albino runt and then by the end of the last book or start of season six they'very both surpassed their putative (in Jon's case) betters.

I'm pretty sure Bran saying, "I've heard this story thousands of times" while the three-eyed raven was smirking at him said everything we need to know. D&D don't give a frick about the book readers and their theories. Shaggy's dead. Rickon's screwed. The Umbers are in with the Boltons. There is no northern conspiracy.

Exactly. You could have a shield but the weight would slow you down.

I was cool with the two swords. The actor was actually pretty good at it, though there was a bit too much needless twirling.

Yeah, but if they would've had the 3rd person there, they could've thinned out the numbers, and had Dayne take on two or three people and it would've still shown how much of a badass he was.

Dawn in the books is incredibly famous. The blade is milky white and essentially glows. You would fricking notice it.

"The blade was pale as milkglass, alive with light."

Oh I totally agree on it being stupid. I'm just trying to find the one thing I can explain about that scene.
