I think LF's strategy would be to kill Jon and the Wildlings that Jon let through the Wall. And they wouldn't be submitting to him, but to Sansa. I'd say it's more likely they submit to him than the Boltons and the Freys.

I agree that he'll fail in killing him. I'm just saying he will make a major attempt at it, and Jon will retreat to the Wall to fight off the Others.
I don't think this will happen in the books though. Although there is a Crackpot theory that I like that LF had Bowen Marsh kill Jon. Would have made him awesome.
