You would think but GRRM basically said "nah she's not immune that was a fluke"

Where did he say this? Pretty sure she's immune. Just like not all Starks are wargs. Only some targs are immune to fire.

He said that the funeral pyre was a magical moment and not something to expect to see again

Let me see if I can find it

Granny: Do Targaryens become immune to fire once they "bond" to their dragons? George_RR_Martin: Granny, thanks for asking that. It gives me a chance to clear up a common misconception. TARGARYENS ARE NOT IMMUNE TO FIRE! The birth of Dany's dragons was unique, magical, wonderous, a miracle. She is called The Unburnt because she walked into the flames and lived. But her brother sure as hell wasn't immune to that molten gold. Revanshe: So she won't be able to do it again? George_RR_Martin: Probably not.

Somebody asked him and he said it pretty definitively.

He seemed to make it out to be some sort of miracle. Maybe the witch was casting a spell to save herself and saved Daenerys instead.

I actually prefer the immune to fire characterization and think it would have been an awesome way to bring Jon back (of course, you would have to omit the part about burning his hand).

Correct in the book they make mention of his burnt hand a lot but he is always flexing his fingers after like he lost some dexterity in the burnt hand. I don't ever remember the book saying the burned hand hurts though . I could be wrong it's been more than 2 years since I've read the series through.

Well she's sure as hell resistant to high temperatures. The bath was one example and grabbing the dragon eggs off the hot coals.

Just bc GRRM said that, does not mean that is the direction The show is going. They've shown us several times she is immune. They had the chance to show us jon is not immune when he grabbed that lantern. They could have done like GRRM and shown him flexing his hand or complaining of burnt hands, but they didn't!

Egg took baths too hot for his hand maids to stand. There are definitely some references to Targs not being bothered by high temps, not sure it means anything though because we also have accounts of Bran taking baths too hot for most people.

GRRM definitely stated that Dany is not immune to fire. It was one specific occasion as a result of the blood magic.

IIRC she got singed by Drogon in ADWD too.

There is absolutely no reason to show Jon flexing his hand. The only reason it happens in the books is because we have access to his thoughts, it all culminates in him failing to draw his sword during FTW. Shows just aren't able to foreshadow and tie intricate details together the way books are.

GRRM said that Targs aren't immune to fire but he did at some point say they are more tolerant to Heat than normal people

I just can't wait for the Steward That Was Promised to play a more key role. Edd is in the E1 description now

"Fire can not kill a dragon" is a deliberate falsehood of sorts if pure bred Targareans (including Daenys) can normally be killed by it. Perhaps it was just bravado in the face of death? Oberyn made a similar statement after all.

With a red comet in the sky and a king's funeral pyre to give the dragons life I guess she was immune but the fat man says she normally would not be - and I understand the part where she holds a hot egg from the coals in the show but not the books - so perhaps part of the issue was the show's writers understood the nature of fire and Targareans differently than GRRM intended.

Maybe she's immune with fire. I can tell you one thing she's not immune to and that is a dothraki whip. Did you see her face after in that 30 second promo? Ouch!
