I think it's fits a little better in the show than resurrecting Catelyn, if that's what they're doing

I never thought I'd hate someone more than Joffrey or Ramsay. Now I actually want Ramsay to torture and kill Stannis, slowly.
That's too good of a fate for Stannis. I've said for a while that the epilogue chapter of WoW will be from Stannis' POV and it will end with him feeling as if his soul is on fire. I wanted that to be temporary before becoming the Night's King, but now I want it to be eternal. Once he becomes the Night's King, he's aware of what's going on, but has no control of his actions or body and he feels as if he's being eternally flayed and lit on fire simultaneously, but he can't die. That's the fate Stannis deserves.

I've never said I hate the show. All I've ever said is that D&D are terrible writers and when they create their own story lines it has mostly been a train wreck and creates plot holes and doesn't make sense to the overall story. And that brings the show down. Especially when the source material has very few/minor plot holes

I am watching late, haven't and will not read anything till later, but shite, daughter burning was terrible. Even though it's been talked about a bunch it was tough. Stannis burning a nephew he didn't know gave him huge pains, but his own daughter? Ugh.

I think it's very possible we se something similar to this in the books.

They've had plenty of changes that have been good and have been appropriate with the constraints of what a show has to deal with when transferring this kind of source material to screen. I'd be willing to argue the good changes have outweighed the negative ones.

I'm curious what they will do with Dany (been awhile since I've said that)

so if george did have a say in this which from the inside the episode it seems so.
Stannis = Azor Ahai
Shereen = Nissa Nissa

Also I think Shireen getting burnt alive, pretty much squashed the chance of Jon snow getting revived by Mel
If Jon is the one few "good guys", it's hard to see him being revived by such evil

I have no doubt Stannis will die in the next book most likely, but he's pretty unlikely to kill his own daughter, not the least that she's not even with him.
To be honest, Stannis in the show has shown more love towards his daughter than he did in the books. If Stannis murders Shireen in the books, then he has to become the main antagonist and ally himself (either willingly or reluctantly) with the Others. It makes sense to have a character we know well become the main antagonist. Otherwise, the Others are just mindless zombies. Loathing Stannis will add some much needed drama to the Others.

I think Brienne is going to kill Stannis. Hopefully it happens in episode 10 so we don't have to wait till next year.

Maybe trying to throw us off the Jon scent?
I am curious how this is all going to play out on the show.
And that book better fricking come out before next season at this rate.

As I was watching Shireen be set on fire, I said to myself. "Why are you watching this? This is horrible!" Then we get to the next scene with Dany and I remember, DRAGONS.

When some asked me what I meant by cheesy CGI- yeah that flight around the arena was what I was talking about. Why not just have the awesome ascent upwards and then a huge jet of flame taking out the last remaining Harpies? SO much more dramatic.
Posted on 6/7/15 at 9:36 pm to iluvdatiger
After watching the inside the episode, it seems like the Shireen scene is absolutely GRRM's creation.

You really want Stannis to have such a clean death that Brienne can provide? No, he deserves far, far worse. Something even worse than Ramsay can do.

No doubt. I remember earlier in this season when Stannis and his daughter had their moment together, I thought to myself that that didn't seem like something book Stannis would've done. I think D&D did it just to make him more human. I think GRRM will have him do something crazy or stupid that leads to his death, but I doubt he does anything to make Stannis seem more "caring" like D&D did before he kills him off.

Yeah that was a pretty shitty CGI job, but probably the best you can ask for on a TV budget
