mance stated the following last night:
a) the freefolk want the tunnel so they pass safely and use the wall as defense from the White Walkers
b) he has dispatched a group to cross the wall five miles away - AND MANY WILL DIE in the climb.
fact is the white walkers are closing in on them and they dont have time to send everyone over the wall. a lot of them wouldnt make it anyhow. so conquering castle black, and with it the only fricking tunnel passage in the whole wall, is by far the most reasonable course of action.
fricking frick i know this is a hodor thread but try not to epitomize the term.

Dude again, explain how the hell you are getting the equipment to build a pulley system all the way up the fricking wall?
Yes mance said last night that he sent another group of wildlings, he sent 400, but he also admitted a lot of them wouldn't make it
If some of the 400 men can't make it over the wall alive, how the hell are enough people going to do it with all the equipment needed to build a damn pulley system on a 7 mile high wall? You know how much stuff it would take to build something like that?
It's not bad writing or a plot hole, you are just stuck on this idea that makes no sense at all.
