Exactly what I was thinking....and I have no problem with it.

Has there ever been a prologue where someone didn't die?

Now the faithful book readers are going to start getting spoiled by this fat frick and the need of tv to "speed shite up" Sucks.

Yup

The tv show knows what's going to happen in the later books, they'll be able to spoil stuff for the book readers to make the story flow smoother in the later seasons.

Really, just breathe, and accept that there will be some deviations. But I honestly trust the creators of this show that these deviations will never take away from the story or alter it, only enhance it.

This X 1000. The writers have already proven to me that they know what they are doing. I trust them fully - as does GRRM - and that's really all I need to know.

Although, I will be pissed if Jon and Bran meet up. Hopefully, Coldhands comes to the rescue, murders all the mutineers, and Jon shows up to find Ghost munching on some dead crow with Bran & co. nowhere to be found.

I don't mind changes. Heck, there is really no way to adapt books to the screen without them.

All I ask for is: 1) That the changes (and the rest of the show of course) be done well and 2) That they don't stray so far that they loose the spirit and core story of the books.s

So far, this show has done a superb job of accomplishing these two things and thus of adapting the book to the screen.

I'm a little leery of the Craster's Keep stuff though. I thought it was a bit over the top and kind of used as an excuse to get in a bunch of f-bombs and nudity/sex/rape scenes. Or else maybe some filler to get Bran more screen time. I'll wait to see how it plays out though. It could be for the best.

One thing for sure, it seems like a whole lot more people are knowing Bran (and Rickon?) are still alive and that the existing male Stark line is more than Jon SNOW. That should impact the Jon/Stannis conversation about Jon getting Winterfell, etc. and perhaps the GNC as well (won't need the Iron Born boy hiding in the Hart tree? Will Manderly's mission to Davos be changed, etc.)

I would like that.

Hopefully they haven' t written my boy Pate in Oldtown out of the show, all he wanted was to have sex with a hooker.

Would definitely like it to be played out like that.

That would also put more fear in Jon and the Watch that the Wildlings were already there

two direwolves though. Would Ghost just go looking for Jon or would it stick with it's brother and Bran?

I want to think that Coldhands gets the mutineers, but then again, the preview squashed that.

Has coldhands been cast? Do we know he is even in the show? If so, I hope he shows up, rescues the kids, and takes them away either before or while Jon is attacking.

So thoughts on the shows deviations being spoilers for what to expect in later books?

Would they tip their hand on how to expect the books to end? They've already done a lot of foreshadowing for the hodors so they can surmise what's about to happen...

i would assume Coldhands is all CGI so I doubt he would have to be "cast"

I don't think we are seeing coldhands yet (if ever) maybe some crows sent by Bloodraven will start to flock in spooking the rapist giving bran and co time to escape.

What should happen though, the theme song ends and it cuts to outside of the keep where several crows have flocked. We can hear the rapist brickering over what to do with Bran, when we see a large hoof land on a frozen puddle. "What's that smell?"........... Cuts to Jon riding to the house. Later that episode Jon rides on the house see the bloodshed.

I still think there's small hope that Coldhands shows up, maybe he just sneaks in there and gets Bran & Co. out of there without getting in the thick of the fighting. I think Bran and Jon will get agonizingly close to seeing each other but ultimately will not. Then Jon and Locke clean house which makes Jon trust Locke even more before heading back to the wall.

Does Locke know that Jon Snow is the Winterfell bastard? Jon didn't tell him in the show, they don't have photographs in Westeros, and there are tons of people named "Snow" in the north?

This whole episode was WTF for me.

Also, lloks like Dany may rule Meereen without the help of that Harpy leader.

She was much more brutal to the masters it seems.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but one of the biggest deviations from the book is that Jon knowing that Bran is alive lessens the impact of Stannis offering him to be legitimate and Lord Stark.

Yeah, once they had Bran meet Sam with no Coldhands to be found, I figured parts of the story would change.

Does Allister Thorne know about Roose Bolton's plan to kill JS? If not, why would he allow Locke to say his vows prematurely? Doesn't seem like much of a Thorne move if you ask me...
