How would he know that Joffrey would take the first bite of pie though?
Has he been much more than an egocentric personality since the fall of ned stark? King Joffrey did everything first except fight for his kingdom.

So the cup was on the ground. Anyone know where it was before that and how it got there? Or was the pie poisoned? Did anyone else eat it? Or did Marjorie poison it?

pretty sure it's part of the ceremony. I mean they made a big show of him cutting it open.
Although Marjory (sp?) did feed him the pie... and the wine came from in front of Gram Gram + the foreshadowing.

What if it's a combination of substances that makes the poison? A toxin in the pie and another toxin in the wine that won't kill you by themselves, but together it'll start taking effect?

joffrey was drinking out of the cup, then poured his wine on tyrion's head, then dropped it on the floor and kicked it under table. Sansa picked it up and gave it to tyrion, who filled it with wine that was sitting on the table. Then just as joffrey was trying to make tyrion bow down, the pie came out and joffrey cut it and took the first bite. I'm almost certain that Margary had not taken a bite yet. Then Joffrey took another sip of wine after complaining the pie was dry and that's when he started choking.

The wine that filled the goblet was from in front of them yes. but Joffrey set the goblet down on the table where Grandma was sitting when he started eating the pie and the poison could have been added there.

I'm glad Joffrey went out the way he did. That looked very painful, which is what the little douche deserved.
That's three kings now who have died under Jamie's watch - though Robert Baratheon doesn't really count. Still...quite the track record he's got going.
