I was mostly disappointed with Jaime not coming clean about Tysha... But whatever, loved the episode
I did really like the episode, but watching on HBOGo, kept on thinking "no Stoneheart" and "get on with it" even with completely enjoyable scenes. Tyrion killing Tywin was fine on it's own terms, I just don't think it measures up to this.
quote:
Tyrion gave him a mocking half bow. “My lord.”
“Tyrion.” If he was afraid, Tywin Lannister gave no hint of it. “Who released you from your cell?”
“I’d love to tell you, but I swore a holy oath.”
“The eunuch,” his father decided. “I’ll have his head for this. Is that my crossbow? Put it down.”
“Will you punish me if I refuse, Father?”
“This escape is folly. You are not to be killed, if that is what you fear. It’s still my intent to send you to the Wall, but I could not do it without Lord Tyrell’s consent. Put down the crossbow and we will go back to my chambers and talk of it.”
“We can talk here just as well. Perhaps I don’t choose to go to the Wall, Father. It’s bloody cold up there, and I believe I’ve had enough coldness from you. So just tell me something, and I’ll be on my way. One simple question, you owe me that much.”
“I owe you nothing.”
“You’ve given me less than that, all my life, but you’ll give me this. What did you do with Tysha?”
“Tysha?”
He does not even remember her name. “The girl I married.”
“Oh, yes. Your first whore.”
Tyrion took aim at his father’s chest. “The next time you say that word, I’ll kill you.”
“You do not have the courage.”
“Shall we find out? It’s a short word, and it seems to come so easily to your lips.” Tyrion gestured impatiently with the bow. “Tysha. What did you do with her, after my little lesson?”
“I don’t recall.”
“Try harder. Did you have her killed?”
His father pursed his lips. “There was no reason for that, she’d learned her place… and had been well paid for her day’s work, I seem to recall. I suppose the steward sent her on her way. I never thought to inquire.”
“On her way where?”
“Wherever whores go.”
Tyrion’s finger clenched. The crossbow whanged just as Lord Tywin started to rise. The bolt slammed into him above the groin and he sat back down with a grunt. The quarrel had sunk deep, right to the fletching. Blood seeped out around the shaft, dripping down into his pubic hair and over his bare thighs. “You shot me,” he said incredulously, his eyes glassy with shock.
“You always were quick to grasp a situation, my lord,” Tyrion said. “That must be why you’re the Hand of the King.”
“You… you are no… no son of mine.”
“Now that’s where you’re wrong, Father. Why, I believe I’m you writ small. Do me a kindness now, and die quickly. I have a ship to catch.”

Does anyone else think that LSH has been written off?
It's certainly a concern of mine.

it would have came out of nowhere which would have been fantastic
All they had to do was show Cat dead coming back to life. Boom.

Jesus, the uproar about LSH is laughable. 100%predictable, and laughable.

Tysha and the Kettlebacks? The Hodors would have no idea what they were talking about
It's really a concern of mine that they've dumbed the show down so much that they don't think the Hodors would remember Tyrion's single life defining event.

GRRM puts so much effort behind Patchface, Coldhands, and LSH. What a disappointment. No Jojen paste, no LSH.

Well they wouldn't. Much more impactful to the Hodors to have Shae in that scene.

I don't think they will write out LSH. I think her and BRienne and Jamie will likely have a very important arc at some point in the next book.
I must admit, In thinking back, I do love that they started the season with Breaker of Chains, and ended the season with Danaerys chaining up the dragons, although I do wish they would have actually had big metal arse doors rather than Jesus's rock.

Would yall please stop obsessing over fricking unCat?! Seriously, book purists are getting to the point where they can't enjoy anything else because of this one overrated story line.
If they decide to keep it they will make it with into one of the story arcs next season.
And in general, D&D are smarter than each of us so please stop nit picking over little details when there is no way you could craft an entire show anywhere as good as they have.

Disappointing episode

I was really disappointed in the absence of Tysha because I thought that's the whole reason Tyrion wants to go up to Tywin's quarters.
I also figured Varys being the one to tell him how to get there was important because without Tywin in the picture, the scene is set for Cersei to unravel, which greatly benefits Varys plans.
I guess that's why they at least showed Varys leaving (that and I know he figured in the books that with Tyrion escaping and Tywin dead that people would definitely suspect his involvement)

they have only mentioned Tysha once like back in s1
you should have known Tysha wouldn't have been brought up

That being said, I really enjoyed the episode and thought they did a great job

I don't think being disappointed that no LSH cliffhanger happened is nitpicking...
it would have been awesome

That whole part with the guy who asked Dany to return to slavery could have been easily written off. I mean, 30 seconds of Stoneheart would have been enough.
Oh well. Hopefully it's the big bang at the beginning of season. Still think the Hodors were robbed of badass surprise though.

The books are far from perfect so when the show changes up some things I don't mind it. Like the Tyrion/Tywin scene was fine with me. I always thought that Tyrion flipping his shite at Jaime and Tywin just because of Tysha was a stretch to me. Jaime just put his arse on the line to save Tyrion and Tyrions gonna go be a dick to him because of some crap that happened to him when he was 16. It just always bothered me. I don't mind the Tysha omission. And if Tyrion and Tysha were to have some kind of reunion in the books at some point, they could easily still put that into the show no problem. And I thought that showing Tywin shitting in the toilet after he was shot would have taken away from the drama of Tyrion killing him. It just wouldn't translate on screen well. I love the Hound/Brienne fight. And I love that Brienne got to have a conversation with Arya like that since the characters are so similar. I, for one, hated Brienne's story. It was so ridiculously boring, they had to do something to spice it up for television so I thought that was a great addition. The only thing I was dissappointed with like everyone else was that they didn't end with Lady Stoneheart. That was such a WTF moment at the end of ASoS and to not to leave that cliffhanger for the end of the season is such a downer. Michelle Fairley must've had conflicting schedules or something. I can't think of any reason they would leave that scene out.

As right as you are...this is not the time, nor the place.

The books mention it somewhat...from the wiki:
quote:
A face took shape within the hearth. Stannis? she thought, for just a moment . . . but no, these were not his features. A wooden face, corpse white. Was this the enemy? A thousand red eyes floated in the rising flames. He sees me. Beside him, a boy with a wolf's face threw back his head and howled.[8]
- Melisandre, looking into the fire in her chambers at Castle Black
quote:
Most of him has gone into the tree ... He has lived beyond his mortal span, and yet he lingers. For us, for you, for the realms of men. Only a little strength remains in his flesh. He has a thousand eyes and one, but there is much to watch. One day you will know.[7] - Leaf to Bran Stark
