I'm surprised too. I wouldn't be shocked if it does if people get banned like they're asking. At this point though one reader (or a non-reader who doesn't agree exactly with their opinion) shows up and a couple bitch for 5 pages about it so they're ruining their own thread. To each their own.
The iron island stuff floundered for me but I think part of it too didn't help that it was by majority in AFFC where all the non-essential chapters got stuck.

I have to admit I totally skimmed the Arianne chapters too.
I actually had to go back and reread after starting this thread because I didn't even remember who the hell Darkstar was. I was like who the frick is this Darkstar guy they keep talking about???
Reading it, I just didn't think he'd be important. Still not sure that he is, but I admit it was a dumb thing to skim through.

I really liked the iron islands stuff. Just an interesting change of pace from the same boring Arya/Brienne/Jamie wonder-fest. That shite was getting so boring.

I think Euron and Asha will have important roles to play as well.
All that stuff was boring on the first read, along with the Martell stuff, because it was introducing completely new viewpoints and storylines after we had spent so much time with Tyrion, Arya, Jon, Dany, etc...
I remember getting to the Ironborn/Martell chapters and reading them as fast as possible just to get to another Arya or Jon chapter.
That stuff is much more interesting on a second read.

Though, Varys kind of struck me more as the type to be completely focused on his future goals and not on revenge for the past. Or at least that he would have killed the guy way back when he was a thief and gotten his revenge that way.
But the dude is so bad arse that obtaining a specific sorcerer and keeping him in a box in King's Landing is probably not that much trouble for him.

He is far worse than a troll. Last year he and I got into it in the non-reader thread because I was posting that I thought Mance would turn out to be Benjen. He kept stating that he wasn't and threatened to spoil if I didn't stop telling him to STFU and get out. Then he posted something along the lines of "Robb and Cat die, Joffrey dies, Tywin dies...frick you". He was banned for a number of months, I believe.
