FWIW, I think all of it could be done away with. It doesn't improve the show. And, although the titties are nice to look at, I don't get off on it. There are enough other sources for such things. I'd be happy with a less graphic GOT.

There is a lot of that shite in the books though. Granted, HBO has added a few more scenes that were never explicitly said in the books, but were still alluded to.

The t&a? Because every scene that has had it has helped flesh out characters or motivations. I can't think of one scene that didn't mention some important story stuff.

I think the reason they show all of that stuff is bc Martin, unlike almost all the other big epic fantasy guys, Tolkien, Jordan, etc. really shows humans the way they are. Motivated by sex and jealousy and a thirst for power. There aren't many characters in the books who are truly pure "evil" or pure "good". They're just normal people put into abnormal situations.

But I'm sure that same thing could be done well without the graphic sex and nudity. Hate to sound like a prude but I think about my kids possibly enjoying the show as well and thats not possible.

But overall not a big deal, just a passing thought.

Yes, too much graphic violence also for my children. They are only 5 though.

I think the violence is just right, a little too much sex that seem not integral to the plot. I do enjoy it though.

The sex is just as prevalent in the books, and much more graphic.

It's part of the story. I'm glad HBO hasn't backed off on it at all.

Also you gotta think, in all the sex scenes with Dany in the books she is what, 14? So at least she is a little older in the show, Margeary is like 15 or 16 too right?

Just as prevelant, yes.

Just as graphic? No, with only a handful of exceptions over the entire series

If you have young kids they have no business watching game of thrones with or without the sex imo.

Its an adult show that deals with adult themes. The whole story revolves around murder deciet and incest.... not exactly a show little johnny needs to be watching regardless of how many nipples they show.

So talking about exploding in a whore's mouth is not as graphic?

No, but that isn't the norm either.

For every explicit example you have, I can point out a sexual encounter that was just "was done after 3 thrusts."

It's not that the books are cleaner.....it's just a side effect of being a book.

Details can be glossed over, whereas on film they are shown in all of their glory.

I knew it was something like that. Martin loves writing about weird midget sex.
