Issues I have with him center how he treats Tyrion and the "win at any cost" mentality. He stayed out of Robert's Rebellion until the end and then decided he had to make a big splash, to say more might be spoilerific.
One of my favorite characters is Ned, and that is because he tries to do what is morally right, often to his detriment. Now Ned did take it to far, made foolish decisions, and paid the price for it.

Tywin is all about the Lannisters and that's pretty much it. Whatever is best for them is what he's going to do. Like most, his character is well done in portraying that, especially through putting effort into rescuing his dwarf son despite obviously not liking him at all. Solely because of the name and what's attached to it.
As for characters we dislike, well, it's been 4 days now and still some of the first words I hear from my lady each day are "frick joffrey!" I have a feeling he's slightly disliked. She also curses me for getting her into this show.
I think book discussion fits in fine here, so long as it's clarifying/explaining some of the things the episodes have already covered. Still, care needs to be taken as there has been a little rearranging in the episodes. Tyrion's talk of Tysha for example, I think fit in to the episode 8 timeline if I remember right. I was glad they brought it up though, hell of a story.
This is an excellent depiction of likely everyone who had read the book to the episode 9 point Sunday night:
eta: Obviously not mine. Picture has a link to the site it came from. She has some other GoT related comics as well. Some drawings can be NSFW as well, so careful.

I kinda feel bad for the kid playing Joffrey, there is a lot of hate out there for him.
My sister even wants Joffrey dead in the most horrible way.

That kids a hell of an actor. I hate him more now than I did from just reading his character honestly, you can actually see his little shite eating grin and hear his whiny piss ant voice.

Hatred for Joffery is one of my favorite things about the series/books. It's rare that a character can really inspire that... it's a sign that he's well-written and well-acted!

It's amazing how well Martin builds characters, I've never seen another piece of writing that has made me care so much about the outcome of the characters. Just take a look at all the reactions last weeks episode got, Thats pretty amazing I have to say.

Sooo you want us here to answer questions that you might not know from out book reading experience, but you don't want us discussing or comparing book to show at all in this thread? Since you take this so seriously and are being such a bitch about it, making fun of the "nerds", etc, I'm tempted just to ruin these threads by posting as many spoilers as I can, but I won't simply because I don't want to ruin it for others.
Oh my god. It's not that serious. I said that to get you bookies riled up. Am I annoyed that I now know three of my favorite characters will survive Sunday's episode? Yes. Am I going to have you e-arrested for spoiling it for me? no. I'm just jealous I never learned to read.

Anyway, what's this I see about Gerard butler playing the role of an important character next season? I won't say who to avoid any spoiler.

I've heard it was true and I've heard it was fake. Im hoping true I think hell be a great fit. Kinda worried about budget issues though.
