whos the eunuch they mentioned?

Carcetti (whatever his name is that was talking to the girls at the joust - "Littlefinger")

I assume his reasoning for the nickname is not the true genesis of the moniker

king roberts bastard son

on a hunch, I'm guessing it was the wench they were talking about over lunch when the caravan took a break on the road from Winterfell to Kings Landing. Because didnt the king get her name wrong, but Ned knew it. Stands to reason if he remembered her that well, he would recognize her features in the kid

So the blacksmith is heir to the Seven Kingdoms? Do I understand that correctly? He's older than the spoiled brat of a prince and - though he is a bastard - has a more legitimate claim to the throne due to age. Am I reading into primogeniture correctly?

Or he was simply recognizing Robert's features in the boy.

i seriously doubt that

to be royal blood, your blood needs to be 100% royal

that seems unlikely

if Jon Snow is freezing his bollocks off on top a wall because he's a bastard, it doesnt seem the customs would allow the blacksmith to ascend the throne

I guess if we discover that the Joffrey kid is the product of incest and the Lannisters are all killed - perhaps that kid would have a line to the throne?

Yeah, you're all right. I just looked it up and I don't think there has ever been a case where an illegitimate child ever had a legal claim to the throne.

Though it does stand to reason that he could be a future king considering the harsh and brutal nature of the Lannisters. He might become the leader of a rebellion in the future. But I don't know...I haven't read the books.

Love this show. Love the book. I'm trying desperately to catch up in the book to the point where the series is but the book is filled with so much detail.

By the way, the Imp is awesome. He's the only Lannister I have any type of respect for...

for those who have read the books, do you like the adaptation as a tv or would you rather have seen it as a movie like lotr?

I don't know if a movie could have done it justice.

I am very happy they made it as a series on HBO and not a movie.

I like the idea of a series. A lot of what transpires in the book occurs in the show. A movie couldn't accomplish that in nearly the same manner.

seems to be the consensus. i asked this to a friend of mine who reads game fo thrones and has read LOTR. he said one typical game of thrones book is a 1000 pages which is all of lotr.

also, lotr needs a movie budget for the epic battles and locations. lotr is more plot, geography, and history driven. While GoT is more about the characters and their stories
