And the XB1 doesn't play shite from USB drives (yet). Those drives only support like 3 or 4 specific items as of now.
If you have a mac, try out an app called Sofaplay. It will stream things directly to the Xbox One if you have Xbox video app open on the One.
I think it is easier some way on a Window's pc.

what brand of TV do you have? And what kind of file should I convert to in order to get it to paly on my TV (panasonic)? I googled that the other day and got a ton of shite I had no idea what kind it was telling me.
I have a Sharp Aquos and just plug a jump drive directly into the TV. It plays AVI, MKV, MP4, and MPG formats for sure. It may handle others as well, but those are the ones I know I have used.

This is basically my TV: Panasonic 65GT (though mine is almost two years old now). Has 2 USB ports on it. I am pretty sure when I tried the USB port last week, with a movie on a jump drive, it was in mpeg format. Maybe I should try avi and see if that works. I would love to be able to just play it straight from my USB if possible, but for now using the HDMI isn't bad at all.

so I just d/l Lone Survivor and WoWS last night.
I have a Samsung LED smart TV. Anyone know if it will play from a USB?
Or how can I watch it from my iPad? Can I hook a HDMI cable from my iPad to my TV? Is that possible? I'm a technology retard, so help me out.

My TV is almost 4 years old so I was surprised with how much it played once I started downloading and using the USB.
I keep all of my movies on an external hard drive connected to my desktop. Once I buy a house this year I'd like to get a really long HDMI cord and connect the desktop straight to the TV by running the cable through the walls and attic. But the USB is a very effective, cheaper, easier alternative for now.

I don't know a thing about iPads man, sorry. I'm inclined to think that should be possible though.

Yes, you can, but I am not sure how well it works.

It works fine...we've hooked up our phones to TVs before in order to watch games (like on WatchESPN, for example). Works just fine. You just need the right cable.

Ipad doesn't have an HDMI port so you'll have to buy an adapter
