I’ve been watching Cheers for the first time. Just got to Season 4. They just casually kill off Coach, like he was a nobody. “Hey Woody, Coach died. Let’s move on.”

I will not stand for this. Coach deserves better. Justice for Coach

I absolutely love Frasier but I've just never been able to get into Cheers. It's like all of the characters are annoying.

You do realize that they had to kill him off because the actor who played the role died. Don't you?

The actor died, not like it was a money dispute or something. I think they just wrote him off without much explanation if any.

Yeah. Maybe show some fricking respect and pay some tribute, not just “oh he’s dead now” and immediately go back more Diane/Sam BS

Cheers went downhill when Kirstie Allie replaced what's her name that quit the show because she thought she was going to be a big star after doing Money Pit with Tom Hanks.

As already stated, Coach died irl, they had to kill him off in the show.

I agree Kafka, I prefer Cheers. Frazier is funny, but I actually enjoyed him more on Cheers. Frazier is a solid spin off tho.

Coach is the most overrated character on the show. And even though Woody is better, my tolerance for one-dimensional characters is still pretty low. Also, Rebecca was better than Diane. It was in Rebecca's 2nd or 3rd season when the writers really hit their stride. Nearly every episode was gold. The last 2 seasons are preposterously good. I think the last season might be the best one of all.

You mean Shelley Long? A major actress of the 80s?

I think this might be a generational thing. If you grew up at a time when Cheers was over, but Frasier was on then I think you enjoy Frasier more.

Much like my dad enjoyed the original Star Trek, but I grew up with TNG. TNG was awesome and is nostalgic for me to watch now, but the original series feels too campy for my taste.

I thought coach was treated with deference when he was alive and with sincere respect after his death on the show.
