Sorry, 1 episode
Posted on 4/24/23 at 8:08 am to tWildcat
I noticed last night that my DVR didn't record the new episode, so I reset it to do so (and recorded a replay last night).
I hope to watch E1 tonight. I may try to rewatch the last several episodes of S1 first though, or maybe try to find a good recap video to remember everything that was going on toward the end of the season.
This is what I remember:
- The radio tower/antenna being built/completed.
- Sheriff Boyd and the girl (who has the writings on her arms) in the woods, and the blinding light. Wasn't it a lighthouse or something they ended up finding?
- The wife being underground in the house and it sort of caved in around her or something? And there was a labyrihth of tunnels and shite down there?
- They get a signal on the radio, and it's someone warning them (or just Jim maybe?) about something. Jim also takes off running to his house worried about his wife. ETA: the voice told him Tabitha shouldn't be digging.
- The dead taking out most of the colony house people.
- I remember visions or dreams of like Civil war soldiers or something like that at one point, when they are trying to get the antenna into the tree about midway through the season.
- The bus of new folks rolling in.
Am I missing anything?

Nailed it. Just finished season 1 last night.

Just read through the episodes on Wikipedia...the warning Jim got on the radio was that Tabitha (his wife) shouldn't be digging. That's why he took off toward his house.
And when Tabitha falls through into the underground area, she sees Victor and finds out that the underground/tunnels are where the dead "sleep" during the day.

So is this gonna be the S2 thread?
It’s depressing that the new season started this weekend and yet no posts on it.
I watched it just now. Thought it was a fantastic first episode for the new season.
Tabitha and Victor traversing the labyrinths under the town was great and pretty damn creepy. And I’m glad they got out so that doesn’t drag on for multiple episodes. Now they’re in the woods and will need to get to shelter.
New people are always intriguing. Not even so much the people themselves but just the situation as a whole. But you’d think the townspeople would be better at introducing newbies to what all is going on. Like just sit everyone down for 15 minutes and explain it to them calmly. Grabbing a shotgun and shooting the bus, or firing your pistol into the air to force them inside the diner…neither of those seem helpful at all. And all it does is scatter everyone and make them trust you even less than they do already.
The house caving in just seemed weird. But I guess we get the suspense of them chilling in the ruins throughout the night. I just hope they wrap that up next episode and move forward.
I kept getting really, really mad at Tabitha when she was with Victor underground and she wouldn’t shut the frick up. He kept saying “shhh, we have to be quiet because this is where they sleep,” yet she kept being loud and saying shite every few seconds. Idiot.
Interested to see what they do with colony house with a giant window smashed. Also, what pushed that pole through the window? The storm was over right?
So the tech dude (Jade?) can see pieces or remnants from the monster life, like the ventriloquist dummy. And he also saw the civil war soldier in S1.
I wonder what the new black dude’s special power will be. And he has a seizure triggered by this place as well. IIRC, he’s the third person to have that happen. So something in this place causes shite like that.
Great start to the season IMO. The worst part of the episode was the runtime. After catching you up, opening credits, closing credits, previews for next week, then episode discussion with the cast and creators, there was only about 40+ minutes of actual episode. That’s terrible.

So didn’t read through your post because I’m on episode 8 of season 1.
But more people need to know about this show. It’s fricking great and maybe the most I’ve been into a show in a long time. I feel like a big thread on this show would be amazing.
Will jump into this later this week when I catch up. I’ll change the thread title.

Problem is, most have never heard of it until it came to Prime. Fantastic so far.

100%
People clamor for new ideas or at least a fresh take on old tropes. This is that and it’s wasting away on MGM+. If this show was on Prime live for each season it’d be one of the biggest shows out there.

Agreed, but it's just not popular, plain and simple.

Please do. Because it's likely that nobody else will.

I loved season 1, but they hide the new season on MGM+. It's never going to get traction.
The first few episodes of season 1 had me mesmerized and on edge. I also got into the project of how one would go about escaping or at least understanding this world. I thought the characters made rational attempts to solve the puzzle, and I appreciated that. The latter 2/3's of the season started leaning into relationship drama (fast forward is my friend) and doing the Lost thing of introducing more questions than you answer. They finished strong, but there is so much wierd stuff going on that I'm worried it's not going to be real. That will annoy me.

But even if it ends up being not real, in some way or another, as long as they execute it well I’ll enjoy that.
One of the things that intrigues me the most is how things are supplied. Like food and power. We’ve seen that the electric wiring below the house go nowhere and aren’t connected to anything. And IIRC they mentioned early in S1 that food supply just sort of “shows up” and they aren’t sure why or how (like chickens randomly showing up).

Doesn’t Amazon own mgm?

Yes. Amazon paid a fortune for MGM last year. Epix was MGM’s streaming service. Amazon rebranded it MGM+ and launched it around the first of the year.
MGM+ doesn’t have a huge catalog of new productions, but MGM has a huge vault of movies. Amazon is using their access to MGM’s property to bolster Prime’s inventory.
But Amazon is not going to add all of it. They’ll tease you by adding Season 1 just as S2 is about to debut. Then hope that pulls more subscribers to MGM+. They want to keep Prime subscribers happy by adding more inventory and options for their subscribers, but they also want to use Prime to drive more people to subscribe to MGM+
The streaming business is still evolving and consolidating. Who know what it will look like in a few years, or if MGM+ will still exist or get folded into another Prime channel or service.
I remember “experts” predicting last year when Amazon bought MGM that their long term goal was to use the rights to MGM property to develop new programming. Translation: more remakes and spin-offs. Amazon now owns James Bond. Don’t be surprised to see a James Bond TV series show up on Prime one day.

If this show was on prime it would be extremely popular. I watched the first season during a free epix weekend.

Heavy lost vibes. Has me hooked.
Just waiting for the sheriff to scream "WAAAAAAALLLLLTTTTTTT!!!!!!!"
Would be badass if the cave lead to the island.

I just finished season one. Haven’t been this excited for a show in a long time. I’ve really enjoyed many shows but only certain shows really make me wonder what’s going to come next or how it will end. This is up there with going into the hatch on lost and when GoT was at its peak.
MTV board should just share a MGM+ account
