One of my favorites of his roles is being on the show Review on Comedy Central. The review of that episode is what’s it like to go to space, and he brings his former father in law (Willard) who is a space freak with him. Fred forgets to buckle in and dies on launch because of it. When they get back:
Forrest: I've got some good news and some bad news
*Drags out Suzanne's father's body*
Suzanne: You killed my father in space! So what's the good news?!
Forrest: Space was amazing.
Suzanne: You son of a bitch!

He hadn't been doing well at all for a number of years after his wife passed away. I'd mentioned to Mrs. Vox that when they killed him off in the final season of Modern Family, they were doing so to honor him and wanted to do so while the show was still in production.
Very sad.
Very sad.

Same here. Such a dry, funny show. Barth and Jerry.

Randomly was watching American Wedding last night. I laughed at all his parts.

Ah, the 60s. When rape was funny. Good thing we've evolved beyond that.
Checks Poliboard.
Well, okay, most of us have.
Fred Willard was a national treasure.

He's going to be buried at sea, will be done on an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era

That's some amazing green screen work there.

I was shocked to see that he was 86.
