i like both shows (i know liking BBT on here is kind of a sin) but frasier is a way better quality show than BBT.

totally agree. I don't have a real problem with BBT either, but I just think Frasier has better execution on the smart people jokes. But I do put Frasier on a tier below the top comedies ever because of something someone else said in order to praise it: the characters are static and never grow. Some see this as a virtue, as they are reliable comedic devices, but I tend to lose interest in things that stay in the same place. The show is formulaic, but it is a great formula with wonderful execution.

From the episodes I've watched I know that it is a funny show.

I opted to watch reruns of Cheers at night when I was in high school instead of Frasier. Both great choices though.

I'm curious as to how Fraiser is perceived by those who feel Big Bang Theory is just a standard sitcom dressed up to be about smart people.

I've always thought of it as an over the top Odd Couple. Frasier & Niles are both the Felix character.

Dad, English chick & co-workers are all more like Oscar. Roz is the Oscar of sex (sloppy). Dad's chair is Oscaresque. Radio Sports show guy is crappy version of Oscar.

It always works!

Would you consider Frasier one of the best spinoffs?

yes. I'd rank it #1 or 2.

As best spinoff, I'd put it up there with Gomer Pyle and Maude.

As most successful, I'd put it up there with The Jeffersons and Lavern & Shirley.

Frazier always bored me. Of course I always thought Seinfeld was overrated so my opinion may be worthless.

I remember thinking the folks were crazy for spinning off Fraiser. I liked his character on Cheers, but didn't think he could make it on his own.

I was wrong. It is a solid to great show. My main beef was the revolving line of MILFs Fraiser was able to pull.

He had almost no love life on Cheers then all of a sudden the guy is hitting top shelf every week. Not to mention 3 separate times, he had some love triangle action going on.

Don't give me the crap about him being a celebrity. He was a freaking radio guy. One step below local meteorologist.

Great show, but I really haven't ever felt the need to rewatch it like many other comedies.

was just thinking about the radio play one the other day. and when frasier and niles opened the restaurant.

These two ephisodes were indeed funny. My favorite was the one where Frasier and Niles becames detectives in the house they grew up in as kids. They found a skull and started to think that their dad had hid the skull. They ended up tearing up a beautiful wood floor. When they later discovered that they skull was from Frasier's 6th grade play of Hamlet.
