The original was OK, just “The Hand of God” was so bad

It’s going to have to be really good casting for me to believe The Walking Dude can be realistically portrayed on film.

I’m not going to say he is some super complex character but most of his story is “fill in the blank”.

It can’t be some smarmy paint by numbers cult leaders portrayal.

This one looks every bit as "OK" as the original.

I really liked the book when I was about 15, my imagination reading it has been a lot better than anybody's interpretation on screen.

My favourite book of all time. I've read the unabridged version like a dozen times over the years. And even I admit the ending was pulled from his own arse. But the world he built, and the characters he created are some of his best. And this was PRIME King, when he was unafraid to kill off main characters. I'm looking forward to this, but I'm not holding my breath

Best scene in the original is Shawnee smith whooping at rob lowe.

No need for a remake

Yeah, “made for T.V.” won’t do this story justice, unless CBS All Access has cable-like unfettered controls of “adult content and themes”.

This is a powerful story of good and evil that would suffer if not allowed to be expressed in a fully mature manner.

Also, I fear that CBS (and the 2020 version of Stephen King) is too woke to not mess with the story.

Did not like Randall Flagg actor in original. IDK if this actor fits either.

Good call. I think the Flagg character would be better played by a more charismatic and even attractive actor, whose guile is more believable.

I'm feeling very meh about this one. Frankly I've never been a fan of Whoopi Goldberg's work outside of comedy. Usually comedians can make the transition to straight acting but... I dunno... I've never seen Whoopi in a straight acting role where she wasn't fairly terrible.

I did like her as Guinan on Star Trek TNG.

She crushed it in The Color Purple.

Timothy Olyphant would be a great casting for Flagg. Skaarsgard is to menacing, good in true blood. We'll see

No way. All he would do is clench his teeth and speak in a whisper.

I think Skarsgard will be great.
