Finished The Americans...a few questions

Spoilers obviously:
In the final season Stan walks into the fast food shop and shows the guy a pic of Elizabeth to ask if she was Gregory's gf. I get how Stan could have suspected them as spies, but can anyone catch me up on how he suspected her as Gregory's girlfriend? I don't remember his girlfriend being of significance to the FBI.
Arkady picks them up when they arrive in Russia and earlier in the episode Arkady tells Oleg's father than Oleg was arrested and the KGB would probably come for them too. Does this mean Philip and Elizabeth are fricked with they get to Russia too. Likely fighting an internal war with Arkady against the KGB?
When Aderholt shows Stan the sketches of Philip and Elizabeth he tells Stan they're watching Paige's apartment. Is there any chance that the FBI saw Stan there? Is Aderholt covering for him?
Anyone think there will be a Philip and Martha reunion in Russia that might wreck a marriage?
Lastly does anyone know what the significance was of the painting that Elizabeth took from the sick art teacher lady that she was caring for? She kept looking at that specific one and then took it when the husband offered it to her and then she had a dream about it on the bus to Canada.

FBI had found out he had a white girlfriend that was connected to Russia when investigating Amadour's murder in Season 1. Considering the other encounters with a similarly described woman (like when Gad and Aderholt got their asses kicked), it was natural for him to check back on this after he became suspicious.

Somewhat. It's made clear throughout the series (especially later in the series and specifically the last season) that Directorate S did not always act in lockstep with main KGB. Arkady is the head of Directorate S, so he's in a position to protect them and fight that war.

Yes, it's possible. I think it is even hinted at.

No. The main story for the series was family, and Philip and Elizabeth actually becoming the married couple they had pretended to be. With their family gone, they only had each other. They would stay together.

Elizabeth was always a good soldier who believed in her cause and did not turn "American" like Philip had. As the series progressed, more and more of an individual identity crept in, but superficially. The artist taught her to look inward at herself (sort of what EST was to Philip in the first part of the series) which, combined with the fact that SOME of her superiors were lying to her to get her to participate in a coup of Gorbachev, caused her to essentially become a "free will" at the very end.

I stopped at your first paragraph. Others will be more tolerant. You could do this with every show/screenplay.
The Americans is in the top ten of all American series in cinema. The Sopranos, Breaking Bad or the Wire had issues too. I'll probably watch it again from start to finish in a year (I just finished).

Agree completely. The series finale is the best of all time for me. Start to finish it was perfectly executed.

The Americans is my #1 all time. Any show that would have my Reagan-loving, commie-hating self rooting for the KGB is just great fricking writing and acting.

Elizabeth's reaction on the train is an all-timer. Didn't see that twist coming at all. Just a great, great show and finale.

The painting is the one Elizabeth took after the painter woman she was doing Hospice for died. Incredible foreshadowing

I just finished this show and wow it was a great finale
That confrontation between stan and the Jennings in the parking garage is what everyone had been waiting on the entire series . So tense
Couldn’t believe Paige got off the train .
Also, it was never confirmed and I wish we had some resolution if Renee was a spy or not ? It’s hinted at and I couldn’t tell if Phillip was being sincere telling Stan about her or if it was a frick you one last time to sew seeds of doubt into him

Stan was part of the investigation of Gregory and was aware of his girlfriend and her KGB connections.
Philip and Elizabeth are fine. They're there after getting burned, they're fine. They're fricked come 1991.
I think Aderholt knows and is covering for Stan.
No Martha. Arkady will likely have her killed.
The painting was indicative of Elizabeth's awakening from being a drone to a freer thinker. It's why she stopped the assassination of the arms negotiator

This made my LOL when I first saw it (and I don't usually LOL watching movies or TV).
I despised Paige and I thought she was a little shite...this was her last act of being a a little shite and screwing up her parents' plans.

Paige was actually an American, she had no place in Russia

And then when Phillip comes to sit with her, in disguise, because of it. Just a beautiful, well-acted, well-written scene.
