It's a christmas movie, not meant to be analyzed and thought too much about. Just enjoy it

this is what I hear any time I don't like a movie that's goofy. I thought ELF was retarded, and not next to The Thin Red Line, just in general.

It's a decent movie; one that the whole family can watch and everyone will get a few laughs out of.

this is why I love it and why i started the other thread earlier this week

you can't go into it expecting vulgar will ferrel with anchorman and step brothers jokes

but its a movie thats fun for all ages, and if you can't laugh at a lot of the things buddy says/does, then i'm sorry that your sense of humor sucks so bad

I don't really know what you expect. Anchorman was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen the first time I watched it, now it's my favorite WF movie ever. Step Brothers was middle of the road meh the first time, but I lol so hard at most of it now.

There's something about WF movies that you just have give them time. Some aren't that great, like Blades of Glory, but some just get better each time you watch. Elf is one of the ones that get better.

Not to mention I don't really know what you're expecting for a WF Christmas movie where he dresses in spandex.

Until last night, I had not actually seen the very beginning of Elf. The scenes with him at the orphanage. I guess I never really thought too much about how he got to the North Pole.

Ryno, I have to disagree...the kids like it a lot. I think the story is great and it has become a holiday tradition for us to watch it together (along with the Grinch and some older cartoon Christmas movies)

People who don't like Elf take themselves too seriously. That's the ticket.

with all due respect, you are an idiot. There is a reason is plays non stop during holidays ... i am way over Will Ferrell, but this is a GREAT film. Holiday or otherwise.

i agree with Chicken.

i'll watch it with the kids and chuckle, but, like The Grinch (with J. Carry), i thought it was aweful when it first came out.

won't go out the way to watch it.

I love the end of it but that's the only part I even like. Don't enjoy the WF/JC interaction at all.

Maybe if I had kids I would enjoy it more. I am not a big WF fan to begin with so I never expected to like it.

Love the movie, don't like Caan. Worst part of the movie, IMO.

Great scene with Dinklage, the snowball fight is epic, North Pole opening is funny, Newhart is classic, on and on ...

Great scene with Dinklage

That's my favorite part. He's an angry elf.
