For those that don't know, it's a show on (Amazon) Prime Video. Basic premise is that if superheroes did exist, most of them would be assholes and abuse their powers, and they'd be managed and "controlled" by some major corporate conglomerate that was all about maximizing profits.

There are currently two seasons in total (8 episodes apiece). And it's definitely not for the squeamish or easily-offended too...it is very gory and VERY irreverent. But that's also why it's so good.

Spoilers below...

I've seen and heard almost universal praise for the show, and have bene wanting to give it a shot. I finally started it a couple weeks ago and was pretty hooked after the first episode.

The first season was legit amazing, and the finale was awesome with the reveal of Becca. I had a feeling she was alive, but wasn't sure and didn't expect them to reveal that (especially how they did it).

Season two was not as strong as S1, but was still strong in its own right. I liked them expanding into more Supes and the Boys having more Supes on their side.

I also love how most of the Supes are in costume basically 100% of the time.

The whole subplot with Deep was pretty bad and mostly boring.

This show is really well-acted. Especially Karl Urban, MM, and Homelander...that dude plays that character perfectly IMO. And I literally can't get Bradley Cooper's character from Wedding Crashers out of my head every time he's on screen. It's uncanny how much he looks like Sack from WC. And what's even weirder is that he doesn't "look like Bradley Cooper" as much as he just looks like that one specific character. But Hughie, MM, Butcher, Elizabveth Shue, Giancarlo, most of the Supes, Becca, etc...all are acted really well.

The graphics/SFX in this show are incredible. Most of the time it actually looks real, and certainly more real than most movies that come out these days. I don't know who is in charge of the SFX for the show, but they deserve a raise for how well-done they are.

A question I had for those who have seen it...

Did Homelander actually rape Becca, or did she have an affair? I was confused by that at the end of S1, and then it wasn't until about halfway through S2 that she tells him "You raped me..." But the security footage tape of her going into the hotel room with Homelander, and then her coming out, seems to point at her fricking up and cheating rather than being raped. She was fanboying over him pretty hard at that dinner when he was talking to her about heading up his social media accounts. I know he's a complete dickbag, but it just didn't seem like rape, and still kinda doesn't IMO.

Anyway, thanks to this board for finally making me watch the show. I should've watched it a long time ago, and now am now fully in the "When the frick does S3 come out??" stage.

Yeah. Just in case someone stumbles in here who hasn't seen it and is curious as to what it's about.

Thanks for your contribution to the thread though.

As far as I know, it is. I'm sure you can stream it illegally somewhere though.

That was an...um.....interesting scene, to say the least. And I guess that's one way to temporarily get out of paying rent.

The show does have a LOT of WTF in it though. Like the mommy/sexual undertone scenes with HL and Stillwell. Or HL jacking off onto the entire city at the end of S2.

So you're saying she went in there for sex and he wanted too much sex? Or she didn't want him to finish or something like that?

I also felt like the Deep subplot and the whole culty religious thing didn’t really add much. Maybe it’ll lead into season 3.

I don’t mind B-plots in shows. Red Herrings suck though.

Agree. At first I was like okay, this is a way to get the Deep back in control of his life and whatnot. But then it felt like it just drags on endlessly and never really goes anywhere, and in the end it was used to get fricking A-Train back into the 7 and not Deep anyway. So it felt even more useless.

Watched S1 over Christmas with family. Currently on free Prime trial and am going to finish it.

It comes out swinging in the first 10mins of the series. I pretty much expect the darkest outcomes in every scene and haven’t been disappointed.

Would’ve never watched had it not been recommended to me. The name gives no clue as to what it’s about.

I really enjoyed season 1 and I never watch any super hero content at all. Then ExProd Seth Rogen told me that I couldn't watch any more of his stuff, so, there you go. Maybe I should try the Robert Downey thing?

What's funny is that the source material is even more brutal.

My wife has caught bits and pieces here and there as I've watched it, and it only usually takes a minute or two for something to happen for her to be disgusted and walk away. Like some offhand comment, or people (or their heads) exploding, etc. She does like some Karl Urban though.

I have no idea what any of that means.

Not going to do that. I'll ask around. I think I know people with an account.
