Does anyone else think this show sucks?

I was wondering this too.

This poor guy doesn’t even get to ask his parents how their road trip to Vegas went (ATTENTION: THIS SHOW TAKES PLACE IN LOS ANGELES) because he got bit and— hey. Wait. How come nobody in the room was like, “JESUS! THIS BITE! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!” They’re just like, yeah, shrug, you got bit. We all live in LA and we all know this happens all the time.
They look at his bite wound, see that he's sick, and nobody has any questions?
They also realllly hate the dad's son.
Him getting annoyed with them showcasing LA as the backdrop is really annoying. Of course they are going to show a lot of the city sky line and things that are in LA, because LA is the fricking setting of the show. Big deal.

The writing is pretty bad and after two episodes, it is becoming even more apparent that this was a cash grab.

I am starting to agree, but I'll offer this. The story seems a bit disjointed. I imagine they are cutting lots in the edit bay to "make time" for every episode.

I think this would have been better had we been seeing this from the eyes of government officials
there isn't much suspense in this because the entire audience knows where this is headed

This is kinda what I was saying a few posts back. Its like this family has "processed" what is happening before anyone else and has already gone into protection mode. I'd imagine anyone else would say what bit you?!?. etc...

I had written this off to the fact that they had a first hand account from the heroin addict son. Plus they saw the news where the dead guy on the stretcher wakes up and starts eating the paramedic. I took them seeing the boyfriend bitten as the moment they realized holy shite my son wasn't hallucinating, he actually saw this happen. Plus the drug dealer was all trying to eat the step dad before they ran over him.

I think this episode was a step backwards from the first.
2 things:
Why did Maddie and Tobias leave their supplies after killing the principal?
I wanted slap Maddie for almost getting her daughter killed by not telling her what was going on. She is obviously an intelligent, mature beyond her years young woman.

Definitely agree. A police captain and also beat cop would have been a cool perspective.

Solid episode last night
Agreed. But there are some things they've handled poorly.
quote:
She wants her daughter to not leave the house and even physically blocks the door at one point, while she is openly questioning what happened and why the mom is freaking out so bad, yet she just sits there in silence and refuses to say a word.
I'm trying to figure out how serious they think this is. You don't break into work and steal drugs if this is a temporary situation like a hurricane or earthquake, so it looks like they're taking things seriously, but why not tell the daughter?
Some of it may be denial, another poster asked why they didn't freak out after the drug dealer, but how long would it take you to admit to yourself that it's an actual ZA and not just some really weird shite happening? Speaking of which, I saw a meme once that said something like "how come nobody in a zombie movie knows what zombies are?" And its true, it's not like in other horror genres people are like "What's a vampire?"
quote:
Also thought it was weird that the mom was faced with a GIANT pantry stockpiled with food and she didn't want to take any.
Yeah, this goes back to how serious they think things are and we're getting very mixed messages. In some ways they're treating it like a ZA and in other ways they're treating it like a temporary natural disaster that will blow over soon.

This show is already better than I thought it would be, and I expected it to be pretty cool.
Yeah, the pilot was a lot of setup, but the 2nd ep had a very good pace to it and I'm starting to like the characters more, except both sons still suck.

It being Los Angeles and lack of common sense in the majority of the population comes into play, so with the lack of rational decisions,..I'm not holding it too much against them. Those who have dated and lived with someone from Los Angeles, probably know what I mean.

Once again, normal Los Angeles behavioral patterns come into play. Los Angeles and drugs go together like lotion and a Kleenex. Its probably not unheard of.

In season 1 or 2 commentary..the episode where the flashback to lori at the school and Shane drives up to tell her. I think RK or someone said in this world the Romero and "living dead" films didn't exist.
