Any answer outside of Sergio Leone/Ennio Morricone in this thread is WRONG.

Musical pocket watch, 3 man stand-off, several scenes in Once Upon a Time in America...

I know it's not a movie but the opening montage for season 2 of the Sopranos is my favorite scene from a movie/tv show of all time.

the ending of The Fountain. The whole movie has a great score: LINK

the meltdown scene of Requiem for a Dream. Unnerving music to accompany unnerving images: music, but not the actual scene

Next Friday when Pinky first appears. Bowie's "Fame" is perfect for that scene

Na. In the battle of the Western Music, the ending of Once Upon a Time in the West, wins.

You can never go wrong with Ennio. Love me some Mission too.

I actually thought Once Upon a Time in the West was average.

I don't have the video link but the music for the embassy evacuation scene from The Killing Fields was really effective.

This was composed by Mike Oldfield who also did the theme music ( Tubular Bells) for The Exorcist.

ETA - Also, the ending of Traffic with Brian Eno's An Ending (Ascent)

Has anyone said "where is my mind" by the pixies in the Fight Club closing scene?

Edit: or the 1812 overture in the bad news bears?
