"Tom Dowd and the Language of Music" is one of my favorites.

I also enjoy watching the BBC Classic Albums series on Netflix/Prime.

Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story (a VH1 original and was not bad for a made for television production)

Starred, among others, Esteban Powell as Phil Collen, Adam MacDonald as Rick Savage and Anthony Michael Hall as Mutt Lange.

Have in my netflix que - I Want My Name Back, it is about how greed and betrayal led to the Sugarhill Gang's downfall after Rapper's Delight came out.

It's also on Amazon prime

I was scanning this real fast to see if this had been mentioned. I wanted to be the first to say it

Sound City x a zillion. Excellent documentary.

The History of the Eagles. It's loooooooooooong but good.

Also very good but goddamn them for showing all of that bush. I've seen it roughly two times (catch it at odd times on tv sometimes) and the scenes where they show the naked '70s chicks with bush gets me every time.

check out 'dig!'. it follows both the brian jonestown massacre & the dandy warhols, and the rivalry they had (or still have? i don't know) with each other. it's an enjoyable trainwreck of a movie, the highlight being BJM playing a gig with a a bunch of label reps in attendance, and it goes down in flames before the end of the first song....i'm not a fan of either band, but it's still a must-watch movie for fans of documentaries...

I won't do documentaries because there are a shite ton of great ones, but for my money CONTROL is the best I've seen.

Sam Riley's performance as Joy Division's Ian Curtis is amazing. Riley along with the other actors actually played their instruments and sang. Filmed in gorgeous black & white. Highly recommend it.

This is one of my favorite ones of all time. Well explained above. You do not need to be a fan of either band to enjoy this one.

Dig is a great one. I own it, I should have thought of it.
There's a good one about the Flaming Lips "The Fearless Freaks". It kind of loses points because of how much that band has started to suck in recent years

Sound city is the best one I've seen in a long time, but the PJ20 and The Other F Word were both good as well.
