There was quite a dark heart that lived inside that Teddy Bear of a show. I can remember watching it as a kid and at times going Damn...Mr. Rourke is getting serious. Through all the lush locales and Soap Opera storylines, every once in a while something dark and serious would rear its head. It seems like a dark take may be the best way to approach a film remake without broad comedy. As with any film, will it be a quality take?

I remember Lisa Hartman played a nun on an episode, made me sad just thinking about it.

As others have said, there was definitely a slight darkside to the old Fantasy Island from time to time.

My only problem with the trailer is that it reveals way to much. The first twist would have been a nice reveal in the movie. Not sure why they felt it was necessary to spoil it.

Why oh why did they have to turn Tattoo into a woman? He was an integral part of the show. Not just the beginning but popping up at certain points and making cryptic comments to the guests.

It was a late 70's, early 80's "love show," like The Love Boat and Love American Style. People watched every week to hear Tattoo say "the plane" and to watch people hook up with each other. Occasionally, they'd get bored and do a suspense episode. That's really all it was.

I agree they'd never be able to do an accurate adaptation of the show. Society has become too vulgarized and cynical. I'd suggest coming up with an original idea, but it's clear at this point that this is beyond their capabilities.

That could be good as a stand alone horror movie. I guess they felt they needed the name recognition of a weak 70's drama, which i don't think they did.

Do you mean the twist that they are all living someone else's fantasy? I'm hoping there's more to it than that, otherwise they ruined the movie by having that in the trailer.

I'm curious to see if it has supernatural undertones or if it's more like Hostel. I give it bonus points for keeping the Mr. Rourke character and using the house from the original series.

All you have to do is look at the cast of this movie to know it’s gonna be bad
