1. I don't like the convenience of the magic. This is somewhat true in the HP movies too, the characters are able to do whatever they want when it suits them (i.e. rebuild NYC in minutes, erase everyone's memory with an unproven elixir, read minds at the drop of a hat, etc). These are things that are shown in the books to be at least moderately difficult, if not extremely difficult. I think that's a symptom of this being written for a studio audience instead of in a book where things can be better hashed out. I don't love that part, but I can get over it.

i dont think i can get over this and im probably done with this universe. how can any story have true consequences when things like this can happen so easily? furthermore, why would there have been ANY accidents left behind for Graves/Grindelwald to find if it just takes a simple flick to fix cities? The entire backbone of this magic is convenient and without consequences.

JK Rowling has never really been great at thinking out the whole continuity thing. Just look at how ridiculously stupid the rules to Quiddich are. The suitcase world thing was also dumb.

shes amazing at developing and creating characters. she needs to leave plot and story to someone else.

Then the wand would be Goldstein's now. We saw that when Harry stole Malfoy's wand, it transferred to Harry even though Malloy didn't have it.

This is a very good point. Then I guess it was either an oversight on the movie's part, or Grindlewald will disarm/defeat Goldstein at a later date. Let's not forget that Harry probably learned more about wandlore than anyone else during the 7th book. So Grindlewald probably doesn't really understand how it works (Voldemort didn't).

I think we all can at least agree that the Niffler was awesome

That little dude had me cracking up.

Haven't seen anyone mention the picture of La Strange (sp) that Newt had. Where do ya'll think that leads?

As of now, I'm thinking she was the student that was harmed or probably killed by whatever creature got him expelled from Hogwarts.

I am a huge fan of the books, but this drove me crazy also. You have all theses people doing a whole bunch of shite that scores a few points here and there. This all becomes pretty much irrelevant when the seeker catches the snitch for 150 points and ending the match. Which also means if your team is down by more than 150 and you catch the snitch you seal your teams defeat. WTF. It's like a football team playing for 3 hours only to have the kicker come out and win with a 100 point field goal making the previous 3 hours irrelevant.

Unless you're the Irish. You win even though you don't catch the snitch.

Correct, but this goes back to my point that the other team caught the snitch which sealed their defeat. I don't think Rowling understands how sports work.

This is true. Though, I'm sure it got to a point Krump couldn't keep the Irish from catching it any longer trying to let his team get back in it.

There are a lot of issues with their world. I mean, don't even get me started on their economy

Why do you think it was terrible? Were you confused? Did you not know you were watching a fantasy film? Did you watch/like Harry Potter?

I just thought it was long, drawn out, and boring. They chased animals around for the majority of the movie. I find the TV show The Magicians is better written and more entertaining.

I thought the Johnny Deep cameo what the most entertaining part.

Fair enough. To each their own. That was just a funny comment.

I would have really liked that Saving Private Ryan movie more if they didn't spend so much time trying to rescue Matt Damon.

That did sound kind of dumb.

I just expected more action and for it to be more exciting. That said, I do expect the sequel to be more of what I was looking for.

Read something today that said she will be a big part of the sequel, and that she is a bit of a tragic character. I guess they are setting up a love triangle with Newt, her and Goldstein
