But is the criticism offered wrong? I don't think it is. Perfidia is an over-sexualized Jezebel stereotype. Bob and Lockjaw both fetishize her because she's black. With Lockjaw, well, you know, those white supremacists sure do love black girls. T

If you want me to agree there are white supremacists who love them some black girls, then you have to agree there are black women who are oversexualized jezebels.

Agreed. Such intensive social monitoring and commentary must require frequent napping in between bouts of outrage…

Perfidia is an over-sexualized Jezebel stereotype. Bob and Lockjaw both fetishize her because she's black. With Lockjaw, well, you know, those white supremacists sure do love black girls. That's why Bob is there, too. The whole thing is just dumb caricature, but maybe that's what PTA was going for.
PTA definitely did a great job with the caricatures.

Perfidia was a self-absorbed narcissist whose revolution is for personal attention, not actual external gain.

If the revolution ever succeeded, she wouldn’t know what to do with herself because it is the idea of being a revolutionary that defines her, not actually the revolution itself.

That is why she left her child behind and rats out her comrades and ran. Going to prison would remove her identity, same with becoming a mother.

Bob/Pat is the stereotypically white knight cuck who is a hanger-on.

He doesn’t actually believe in the revolution either. He is doing it for the pussy.

The issue I have with the movie, which I enjoyed, is that it seems to not know what it really is.

The stereotypes exist in a world that takes itself too seriously and there isn’t enough humor.

Someone I was watching it with described it pretty well, IMO.

It was as if it was trying to be a Tarantino movie, but didn’t know how to complete it.

The caricatures seem as if they were pulled out of a Tarantino movie, but they forgot to bring the humor and gore along with it.

I am sure people will disagree, but it felt like a Temu Tarantino to me.

You have clearly comedic stereotypes surrounded by completely realistic characters (the military interrogator).

It doesn’t really work when you mix the two together.

At no point in watching Sinners did I think this was the best actor and picture of the year

I don't watch a ton of movies but I tend to agree. I heard all the hype around sinners and figured why not give it a try and everything about it just seemed oversold. The music was cool and the story was I suppose unique. Don't get me wrong, the film is actually quite beautifully shot and was a decent enough watch, but I didn't finish it and think it was some sort of masterpiece or anything. I wouldn't ever really want to watch it again.

The best scene in Sinners is in the post credits

I saw Buddy Guy and B.B. King together about 25 years ago. Helluva show.
