I think for some people it’s the undermining of the mythology but that is probably low hanging fruit. If the movie was well written and well acted they would have liked it
I don't care that it's a bad movie. I care about the permanent damage done to the story.

Not anywhere close to this. Like maybe 20% of the board was against it, they were just a loud minority. There are maybe like 5 posters here who liked this.

Just do that.
Rey is a nobody, ok. Does that need to be a reveal? Just make those characters a small part of the new story. TFA did this well despite being a remake. For some reason they dig poor yoda up. He’s been through enough. How about Luke is on the island and plays the same role as yoda and his fate is unresolved? Johnson is the one that needed to send him off and include him in the final act instead of just using him as a small part of a bigger story.
He’s in only 1 scene in TFA
Abrams didn’t let the outside influence him as much.

Well these audience score numbers are misleading as well, 2 years of TFA, 3 days of TLJ.

There were some people that disliked it for sure. Lots of complaints. But nothing close to this level.

When the movie was almost over and it was obvious that it wasn't good, I started looking back and I realized the whole thing was an epic troll job by Johnson. The movie's climax took place in a fricking SALT MINE. That was enough for me to go from hating the thing to absolutely loving the next level troll job that he pulled off. Great stuff.
