I agree 100%
If you need any more proof fanboys are crazy, now magically the prequels are somehow the superior movies. The first two are TERRIBLE IRL.
That says it all.

My only problem with how 7-9 is being handled is that 1-6 are all about one thing, and now 7-9 is about something mostly unrelated yet Lucasfilm still decided to call them 7-9 and say they're a continuation of the same story.
To be fair they aren't marketing "Episode 7-9" in anything like they heavily did for the prequels.

Not true IMO, the people salty about it all think it should have gone they way THEY thought it should go. Or that it didn't live up to their expectations. Rian did what the frick he wanted to do.
he even "breaks the 4th wall" as posted here, again, when the soldier tastes the white powder that luke's last scene with Ren was on, and says "Tastes like Salt" That was 100% speaking to the audience. You will be salty, IDGAF.

You know what I hate, hearing that Star Wars isn't about the Skywalker blood line. Really?
The force is what binds every living thing together.
Anakin is the living embodiment of the force.
Therefore his offspring and family are the descendants of the force.
Yea, the Skywalker importance is pretty damn important to the Star Wars Universe. Trying to kill that off is frankly just stupid.
If they wanted to have movies away from the Skywalkers, go for it. Trying to diminish their importance and get away from them though, just stupid.

by having a character ostensibly address another character while really speaking directly to the audience.

Because it’s subtle. I wouldn’t have thought that without the other hit you over the head 4th wall breaking like kylos let the past die monologue

I like the idea of him killing snoke. It just sucks because I don’t know who he is and I haven’t seen anything between the 2 characters so it doesn’t carry any weight Rose, she just tells us everything about her. She even tells us everything about Finn just in case we didn’t watch the last movie. You don’t see her character and you don’t feel connection between her and Finn...you have to be told
i agree with all this. I'm not defending the movie because it didn't have flaws. Just the "OMG it was terrible, worse than the prequels", etc shite being slung everywhere is way off base.
The movie has major flaws, but it was still a good movie. A good Star Wars movie? Maybe not, but a good movie.
I agree with most people who say, why even have the OT characters at all, they should have rebooted the movie with a true reboot. Han dying and now the Leia conundrum doesn't make the movies better IMO. Just have Rey introduced just like Luke was in the OT and move on.

They aren't exactly though. Ben Solo is still of the skywalker bloodline and this trilogy is about Ben and Rey.

It’s not whether you agree
I’m just telling you this movie isn’t being ripped because it’s not what fans wanted, it’s being ripped for being a bad movie. I think for some people it’s the undermining of the mythology but that is probably low hanging fruit. If the movie was well written and well acted they would have liked it
They’re not mad “oh my god you killed snoke”
They hate it because “who the frick is snoke and why should I care?”

I disagree here.
I'm convinced that any movie made after the OT is going to get ripped apart.
Star Wars is too big for it's own good. It created almost a subculture. It could be the best movie ever made and people would still shite all over it because they think they are entitled for some epic sprawling mythos reveal or continuation.
Easy example being that people shite all over JJ for rehasing ANH, but Johnson starts to kill off the mythos and literally undermines everything JJ set up to create something new and gets shitted on even more. JJ was at least staying true to "muh star wars" archs. Johnson ripped them apart. Both were equally panned.
It's a no-win sitution. People hated the prequels, they hate this trilogy. The faster they get away from the OT and Skywalker saga the better. It is a good move and smart one by Disney. Get away from the toxic Skywalker Star Wars fanatics and let's start something fresh.
Why do you think Lucas sold away his magnum opus, he was ready to wash his hands of this fanbase.

I hate the movie for 3 main reasons.
1. The butchering of Luke as a character. A character that was built over 3 movies. To have him become a hopeless hermit who contemplated killing his nephew was a joke and something he never should have been able to do.
2. The build up over 1 and half movies over Rey's parents. For her to be nobody it ruins FA. She did not need to be a Skywalker but she needed to be involved in the story before FA in some way. Something had to explain how she was so strong. How she had flashbacks to the temple massacre. She could have just been another student there that got away from Kylo.
3. The horrible side quest of Finn and Rose.

Go back to this very message forum when TFA was released. it got shite on heavily here. Heavily. Just because you liked it doesn't mean it was ripped apart here and elsewhere, because it was.

I was here then. It was nothing like what is going on now. Nothing.
TFA audience score is 88%
TLJ audience score is 56%

That’s more of a problem with the film makers. Case in point darth Vader’s smoky intro and the grandiosity with which they treat him. This shite is important to the audience, not within the movie
It’s why all then prequels suck. In the OT he’s a part of a larger story. In the prequels he is the story, he’s space jesus
