Not quite as good as Coco, but I enjoy it.

It really is. I wish the music was more timeless, but it fits the movie very well. Best song is the one they play when the grandmother is realizing she's the problem.

There's a Hollywood Bowl performance of the songs on Disney+ with the cast members in their actual roles. Pretty good.

This is actually what led to this thread. My girls wanted to rewatch the movie after watching the live performance. I forgot how good it was and feel like it didn't get the recognition it deserved.

Also, Isabela...

It is. Although my wife annoyed me for weeks afterward singing We Don't Talk About Bruno.

My 2 year old calls it "no no".

We kind of love it in our house.

She's on Doom Patrol too. Didn't realize she was Isabela until we saw the stage performance.

Chick who plays Mirabel is in Brooklyn 99.

It's okay. Not sure I'd call it timeless. I'd say most of the other songs are better.

Yes but I find Encanto more rewatchable, Coco hits too hard sometimes for a casual watch

I was not a fan when first saw it. The House reminded me of a voodoo haunted house. Satanic Black majic. Sick shite.

I can't stand most of the songs in Encanto, especially The Family Madrigal song. You can't understand most of the words because it's too fast. I don't mind We don't talk about Bruno because it's catchy. The only song I actually thing is good is the one that's in all Spanish when they show the Grandma's backstory with the Grandpa dying. Coco and Moana are better musically imo.

Same. Music was fine, but nothing great. I thought the movie was okay. Coco is a much better movie IMO. The animation in Encanto is absolutely stunning though.

The music is good, but the problem is that there’s no bad guy.

In Coco you can root against senor de la Cruz.

The family (especially grandma) got off way too easy for treating Bruno like garbage

Agreed. However, we were just watching this again last night, and I was really struck by the fact that when the abuela was owning up to the problems she caused, no one told her "oh it's ok, no big deal, you're fine!" Yes, Mirabel embraced her and through her actions expressed acceptance and the willingness to move forward, but she didn't excuse her abuela's actions and forgive her immediately. I liked that.

While I do think that Coco is the better movie, this is one thing I actually liked about Encanto. Sometimes, especially with family dynamics, there is no “bad guy”. The adverse effects caused by the grandmother were actually rooted in her love for her family.
