I've thought about it some more - Liz was the biggest female star of her day, perhaps split with Marilyn by the late 1950s.
I don't think Foster, Bale, Leo or Portman hold a candle.

Arguable, but willing to give the edge to Christian as far as movies made during their adulthood. But on the flip side, not sure Christians childhood filmography stacks up to Kurt’s.
For what it’s worth, although I really like both of them, Christian Bale is by far the superior actor between the two.

What movies was Kurt Russell in as a kid? I've never heard of him being a child actor.

Follow Me Boys. My old man’s favorite movie.

A cool story about Kurt Russell and Charles Bronson becoming friends:
quote:
Kurt Russell and Charles Bronson became lifelong friends due to a touching incident when Russell was a child working with Bronson on a TV series. Russell, who was aware of Bronson's birthday, gave him a small gift, which Bronson accepted silently and then walked away, making Russell worry he had offended him. Later, Bronson called Russell to his dressing room and revealed he had never received a birthday gift before in his life, as he had grown up in poverty and worked in mines from a young age. Bronson was deeply touched by Russell's kindness and offered him a skateboard for his own birthday, and they became close friends.
They also worked together in the film "Guns of Diablo" in 1965, where Russell played a young character while Bronson played the lead.

Well to be fair, it was more TV work than movies, but he started acting at age 12. Did a couple movies and an absolute ton of tv shows. His movie acting career really picked up in his late teens. He signed a contract with Disney and did a bunch of films for them as a teenager and young adult. Hit his stride in 1980 at age 29 and laid out a pretty solid filmography over the next 20 years.
I always enjoyed Russel’s films and even his supporting roles. Usually fun and entertaining movies. Again, not saying his acting abilities are anywhere near the league of Bale but was just one of the few I knew of that met the OP’s question about actors who began as child actors and also had successful adult careers.

Hadn’t seen it in 20 years. Rewatched it tonight with the family. Holds up so well. Great cinematography, score, script, acting, etc. Has to be a top five WW2 film.
