From what I read, there was at least one test audience before they removed all the gay shite. After the showing, they ask for a show of hands of who would go to the theater to see this movie. Not one audience member raised their hand.

I don't get it. The original director was behind Coco, which was one of Pixar's best in the last decade. WTF was he thinking with this one?

Probably made Coco to appeal to the normies. And once he had his foot in the door and made a name for himself, he figured it was ok to make his adolescent queer fantasy film.
