Watching this now on PLEX. I completely forgot how funny his stand up specials were.

I don't think any entertainer has ever had a decade like Eddie Murphy in the 80s.

Carried Saturday Night Live on his back. Three hit standup shows in theatres. Star of some of the biggest hit movies, like Trading Places, 48 hours, Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America. And he even charted an album and pop single. He was a force of nature.

A bush bitch with a bone in her nose. "Eddie, what have you done for me lately?"

I think his movies age even better. Bowfinger is a gem if you haven't seen it.

Between his 20th birthday and his 30th, almost everything he touched turned to gold. Incredible.

As a kid, I loved Delirious far more than Raw which meanders and is more adult issues.

Eddie grew and Delirious can be pretty juvenile while Raw talks about adult issues.

For a kid that was somewhat boring. Or not understandable. Delirious is still great but seems dated. Raw is more relateable and maybe more timeless.

It is a testament to how fickle fame can be that Murphy's career seemed to collapse over night. As his recent work has shown, he still has that amazing talent and he's become a more polished actor.

RAW

Yeah...he wasn't too keen on women in that one.

Saw it in the theater and laughed my arse off.

Choosing a slew of poor projects and getting caught publicly in a number of questionable situations will do that.
