Time to kick off this bitch

Poor emperor can’t even get through a sentence without a woman cutting his balls off lol.

I think Desmond was exposed to a bunch of spice and spice gas when he confronted the worm. Such a huge amount of exposure triggered powers within.

It’s a wait and see on Desmond for me. I thought he might be a Cymek but now I’m not sure the show is smart enough to even know what that is.

I’m hoping they are smart enough to avoid things completely made up by Brian and not just expanded ideas from Frank’s books. Including the BG sister training as a Suk Doctor was a nice touch.
Desmond is the most interesting aspect to me. I’m not sure how he is related to the Kwistaz Haderach but I’m sure the BG will learn of it once they determine the source of his powers.
All I can think of when I see Desmond is how much I hate Max for canceling Raised by Wolves even though it was a nonsensical show. At least he got a better haircut.

Raised by Wolves was awesome. It feels like his character from that just jumped over and picked right up on Arrakis

The scene when the acolyte underwent the spice agony felt exactly like I imagined it when reading the books. They nailed that, IMO. Creepy AF.
Also, the emperor is a bitch.

He's not a cymek. The BG would probably detect it if he was.
I think it's superexposure to spice. Look at those who develop special powers: Paul, Miles Teg, Reverend Mothers, Leto, something about the spice poison pushes them through to the next level.
or.....he could be a creation of the Tleilaxu.

I thought it was odd that the Empress referred to the sandworm as Shai-Hulud. Seems more intentional than just dropping phrases people would recognize.

Good catch, I didn’t even notice that.

Yeah, there was an awe in her voice

Do these heads of houses not recognize the BG are very manipulative? They are freaking hand signaling in front of everyone.

Braon Harkonnen refused to have one.

Well in the actual Dune universe the BG are much more subtle, smart and pragmatic. They’re advisors, they don’t rule everyone like in this show. Their 2 primary functions are breeding and eugenics, not taking over the imperium but steering the power incrementally so their plans aren’t seen or disturbed. This show is very far off the mark on everything.

They were more meddling but Paul and Leto wrecked all that.

That seems to be what they are doing in this show. It's revealing the start of them becoming a bit more brazen as they might lose some momentum, no?

But they don't rule over anyone in the show....

Nobody can brush their teeth without asking them first. Cmon man

This made sense with in reference to Mark Strong's character in episode 1. That dynamic has already been completely obliterated.

Well, I mean, they're advisors. People rely on advisors. I do agree that I think the show is going a bit heavy handed with the portrayal of the reliance on them right now, but it's easy to forget we're only two generations into the Sisterhood. At this point I don't think anyone realizes how nefarious they actually are, so at least in my head canon (which could be totally wrong) I imagined that most of the great houses wouldn't have any reason not to trust them. Keep in mind, "The Voice" isn't even a known thing at this point. Nobody in the show is expecting what we already know from Messiah/Children/God Emperor.
