The books also pointed out the flaws in being the savior.
Muadib could see the future but couldn’t shape it. He may not have wanted Fremen doing interstellar jihads in his name but he got it anyway.

I think the jihad would have happened with or without Paul. The Fremen finally having their Lisan al Gaib may have accelerated the timeline somewhat though.
The Jihad was inevitable. I do believe Paul had some control over what happened after the Jihad, but was unable to bring himself to do it. Which is why Leto II had to step in

Once again, that’s what Frank Herbert was going for.
It seems they are taking some of the context of the overall series to help round out the tone of this book 1 storyline, which I think is a smart and interesting way to go
