So what?

The Academy, and ABC for sure, want good ratings.

Michael B Jordan is so bad in BP that alone should take it out of the running for best picture.

Yeah, this one is definitely my personal favorite for having destroyed the Oscars' credibility, if it still had any after the shift to having 10 best picture noms.

BP winning would definitely finish it off. The fact that it was even nominated probably signifies that it already has been, though.

No. Not even close. Black Panther is at least entertaining. Crash was nothing more than contrived race baiting with irrational scene after irrational scene.

Panther isn't deserving of a best pic nod but it would be light years better than Crash winning.

It's called Aquaman. And give it a chance.

I believe you. I was just kind of joking/remarking about the old ongoing discussion on whether the Academy fluctuates between obscurity and popularity.

The OP was probably joking about BP winning, but there might be an outside chance that this is the movie voters choose to recognize super hero movies as legitimate. I can’t really see best picture, but perhaps something like the Mad Max Fury Road treatment.

It had good moments. Some great and interesting characters who were played well by the actors portraying them.

It’s third act was a snoozer. I literally fell asleep.

BP isn’t even the best Marvel movie this year much less the best overall. It’s good and entertaining, but not some landmark film.

Crash is so bad that it isn't even the best movie named Crash. The James Spader movie about car crash fetishists where he fricks that woman's scar would have been a more fitting Best Picture winner.

I’ll say it again and again: It wasn’t even the best Marvel movie to come out last year.

Disney owes the Russo brothers an apology if they promote BP over Infinity War for best picture.

BP was the best Marvel movie this year, except for Spider-Man, Infinity War, Ragnarok, and Ant Man 2.

Oscar ratings have been going down. Politics is certainly part of it, but the major nominations going to movies that the general public doesn't care about is also an issue.

Old people watch the Oscars because they remember a time...

And then they complain...what are all these movies? Get Out? Get out of what?

I'm confused...when is that Harry Sally guy gonna come on and tell us jokes? Did that win Best Picture this year?

I don't know who really watches the Oscars anymore. The nominees?

Young don't, old maybe out of nostalgia...middle too busy. This isn't the MTV Awards, teens aren't screaming to watch the Oscars waiting for who won best kiss.

Oscars are making a weird desparate attempt here to stay relevant to the general public.
