the movie is a classic but j think the book is actually better. And That isn’t just a snobby default position.

And it isn't even close. As you stated the book has the time to show him slowly driven insane by the house. The movie doesn't have the luxury of showing a slow decent into madness. Jack just suddenly becomes a psycho after seeing a few things.

he book was stereotypical King. Good buildup, letdown ending.

That’s why I love the heck out of his short stories and novella length books.

Simmons always talks on his podcasts about whether he likes where someone’s career went.

McGregor is someone whose career I def feel like should’ve been more. I always like him in what he does, but he’s somehow never made the leap to elite.

Will check it out for sure.

Seems like they would've started with The Shinning remake closer to Steven King's liking before making Dr Sleep

They did that ~15 years ago.

Finished the book last night and gave the trailer a rewatch. It looks like they are sticking close to the book. I’m curious to see how they show how powerful Abra’s shining is. She was wrecking shite in the book.

As the book goes I thought it was a nice ending to the The Shining story. The climax at the end could have been better but I still enjoyed it.

Wasn't the miniseries very close to the books? I thought it was bad, never read the book though.

Final Trailer

Has potential. I don't mind if it "follows the book" or not. Just tell a good story.

Did not know this was even coming out. Opens this weekend. May have to check it out. Love that they followed with the movie background rather than the book background that the novel follows. Should be interesting. May check it out.

Yes, King got to have a lot of control to make The Shining his way and it was weak. Kubrick's version is much better.
